Quote: Seriously is it safe to say that the quickest way off RSV is to spend your 2yr seat lock on the 756 sitting RSV then go to 737 or 320, sit RSV for 3 months then hold a line in EWR or SFO?
Depends on the kind of flying you want to do. EWR/IAD 756 has a lot of Europe/ S.America flying. 737 has Caribbean. If you’re coming from a 121 background 756 is not a big deal for new hires (as I was)

Even for military types (especially single pilot background) the time sitting bunkie is a great low-key entry into the long haul world.

If I was forced into SFO I’d definitely recommend 737 though.

Guys are holding lines on the 73 and Bus less than 6 months from starting so after 2 years, you would be top half if not more senior at EWR and SFO I’d say. Last time I checked I was 61% in SFO at the 9 month point.

When you say in 2yrs you would be top half you mean 737/320 correct? The question remains: if wanting to hold a line ASAP and having been assigned the 756 as newhire, what is the fastest path (any combinations of domicile or equipment)?

SFO and LAX are your more junior 756 domiciles if you are assigned the 756. I’d have to look closer but I think SFO still gets a line sooner than LAX.

Every base and every month is different and the G line moves differently per base (80% might be a lineholder in LAX but not in DEN) but in general SFO will get a line sooner than LAX. As a data point I was 70% in LA for the 756 and 67% in SFO after 8 months with the company. Those senorities ought to be solid lineholders. So if you get the 756 and can live with the commute or live on the west coast, you should be a line holder in a few months. If you can’t make the west coast work the other bases don’t have as much movement and you might be reserve much longer and by the time you get off rsv, your seat lock might be up and would be a solid (close to 50%) narrow body line holder.

BL: as a 756 new hire, SFO/LAX is fastest way to a line.

That’s great info, thank you. I’ve never heard that perspective, but it’s very helpful.

Random question, on the most recent bid how junior did the plug CA go for the 75/6? Base?

On the big December bid the junior 756 CA went to about 8,200 out of roughly 12,750. The junior overall is closer to 8,400 though, since its not linear as each bids have more/less than previous bids.

Junior 777 Captain about 3,200.

Also to add my friends in EWR with similar seniority on the 756 fleet with 4 years on property are around 67%. I am 37% in SFO, LAX I’d be 43%. So that gives another data point for 757 seniority progression in 3 different bases.
