News on the new Skywest pay package

Is there a good case to be made for going to SW?

Not really, no. Especially if you're interested in, you know, money. Or looking base somewhere where a wholly-owned carrier has a domicile.

The people telling you to come to SkyWest are either Kool-aid drinkers or junior people looking for a seniority boost.

For pilots already on property: unless you're getting a referral bonus out of it, stop sugar-coating things and telling people to come here. We're never gonna get anywhere with management until they stop filling classes.

If classes stop being filled then they do bigger new hire bonuses. Why would I care to see that?

It doesn't seem like the pilots of any regional care enough to make the regionals compete on anything other than first year pay. There is very little that has been changing the last few years except first year pay. That keeps going up, to where a first year FO makes as much as a 3rd or 4th year captain.

But recently it appears to be moving upward. Envoy is paying 2nd and 3rd year guys an extra 10,000 per year in bonuses. Endevour pays everyone an extra 23000 I believe.

If the regional gets you the first year they own you.

I just saw this comparison on the PSA add. Is this unrealistic?
Widebody Captain after 8 years at AA? That seems like a very generous estimate.

I wonder if there is a 4 year plane lock on the E190, It would really suck to be stuck under 100k a year for 4 years at AA.

AA's 190's are set to be gone by the end of 2019. At AA, Once your awarded an upgrade, you are paid that rate even during a seat lock.

Not really, if you're familiar with their demographics.

Unless Envoy has some negatives I don't know about. It seems like an easy decision.
A June 2006 Eagle (Envoy) hire is barely holding reserve CA in ORD and suffered LGA commute as a junior CA for 2-3 years.

A Sep 2006 Skywest hire bids 20% CRJ CA and 30% ERJ CA in ORD.

Why don't you tell us all which is better?

hmmm. No interview flow to AA, $20,000 bonus paid day one, retention bonus paid quarterly year 2, way better non rev travel program, fast upgrade (if you desire). I know which one I'd pick. But to each his/her own.

Interesting message on the front page of SWOL. Not sure what they are trying to get at. Stay competitive on costs, we just signed a five year deal?
