The rule is 6-6-HIT. 6 Approaches within 6 months including Holding, Intercepting and Tracking. If you go beyond 6 months after the initial 6, (12 months) you have to do an Instrument Proficiency Check with an instructor or a DPE. Then you will be Instrument current.
