Default E175 to BOI/commuting to ORD

Hello,

I'm coming up on ATP minimums and I want to go to SkyWest. I'm a single mom and since my family is in BOI and I'd like to utilize their help, I would want to shoot for the E175 to BOI and try to eventually upgrade there, as well.

If the junior base for the E175 is ORD, how hard is it to commute there from somewhere like BOI? Should I plan on just moving my kids to BOI from the start and not seeing them for a few months while on reserve?

As far as upgrading, what might I expect to be able to be based in BOI as a captain?

I'm less concerned with a quick upgrade time as I am living in base and being with my kids as much as possible. Is this a bad strategy?

Thanks!

New hires on the E175 are going to Boise (at least right now they are). Also, the most junior upgrade on the E175 is also Boise, and at the moment that’s about a 3 year upgrade. Things might be different in 3 years but that’s the current situation. If you come to SkyWest, ask for the E175 and don’t let them talk you into anything else.

Sounds great to me! Here's to hoping it's still the case in a few months. I know nothing in the industry is permanent!
