New Hire wanting ORD: ERJ or CRJ?

I am hoping to be in new hire class sometime in the next few months. What is the better equipment to chose to get ORD as quickly as possible?

I heard that getting off reserve might be easier this fall in the ERJ, but getting stuck at LGA doesn't sound too great. A DTW or MSP commute for a while would be easier on the CRJ too.

Thoughts? Thanks for any info.

If you live in ORD I would take the ERJ. Better trips, better pay, was a much better quality of life but that is quickly evening out.

Live in ORD so sitting reserve there wouldn't be terrible, but worried about getting stuck on LGA on the 175...

And why do you say it is quickly evening out? Is Quality of Life improving on the CRJ?

"might" is the key word on getting off of ERJ reserve.

Exactly the reason why I'm trying to get some more information, seems very vague. What is the current times to get off reserve on each fleet at ORD? Is it a significant difference or within a few months?

honestly right now it seems like you are able to get off reserve within a few months on either fleet at the moment. I had a conversation with an ERJ FO the other day that said he was off reserve in three months.

Uh no, the ERJ is starting to feel the pain the CRJ guys have been feeling for years.

Ya. The days of the ERJ reserves sitting around is coming to a end... last Thursday we flew 3 aircraft from the factory at the same time....

And what pain is that? QOL issues, bad trips? What is the ERJ “loosing” that is bringing it closer to the CRJ?
