There’s plenty who are forecasting the demise of contract regionals (those regionals who are not wholly-owned or heavily influenced by mainline like C5 & XJT due to partial ownership/other ties) and some predict all contract regionals will be gone in as little as 5 years. Given all the flying that OO does for 4 mainline carriers and as business-savvy as OO management is, it seems REALLY tough to believe that OO will be gone in 5 years and far-fetched that OO would disappear beyond that. Thoughts??

Honestly some may. But GoJet put that theory to test and balked it.. OO is mostly 12 year contracts. So in the next 5 years no... after that?? Doubtful... don’t worry about that type of stuff. Worry about not commuting...

That guy is funny, between my weed eating sessions he told us “Knock knock” jokes over what was mostly cold PBRs. The Chipster does need more yard attendants - it’s big yard man!

Don't sweat it. Regionals exist to keep costs low. With only wholey owned regionals, the camel will get his nose under the tent and start thinking he's part of the family.
Contract regionals are vital to the whip saw.
Also contact carriers that own their own planes cannot be cut loose on a whim. They are the long term bench strength. WOs can be adjusted, or eliminated at any time for any reason.

Having been in this industry 22 years now. WO have moments of bliss. Followed by a decade of pain. Then repeat that cycle. Contract carriers. Have decades of mediocrity... find the cycle, and jump in... good luck..
