I'd strongly consider PSP on the CRJ. You can get it soon out of training and hold a captain seat years before you'll get a left seat slot in San.

Is PSP possible as a new hire? Thanks

I recommend doing it this way.

Seems silly. Wait 9 months to hold an FO spot at home just to upgrade a year and change early when you could be driving to work the whole time and getting comfortable on the plane you plan to upgrade on.

Lol. Because you don't know any better and because it is the path that you chose.

Yes, and your seniority will build fast there as well.

Lol no, because the quickest way to get to SAN is as an ERJ FO. Then he can live at home and drive to work. While there he can decide if he wants to wait to get back to SAN as an ERJ CA or upgrade into the CRJ and commute out of PSP or somewhere else.

I'm just trying to add a little perspective. Depending on where you live in SAN, PSP is still potentially drivable. You can hold PSP right out of the gate, hold a line sooner, and hold left seat in about 2.5 years. SAN is senior and getting more so.

That would be great if I could hold PSP out of the gate. PSP is not commutable from where I live, but it wouldn't be difficult.
