when to apply

Hi folks! quick question from a guy about to jump into the 121 world. I currently work for a 135 company and I have a verbal agreement with the chief pilot to work thru the new year, making me free to move on January 1st. I am now about 1750 tt/500 turbine pic with all atp mins met, estimating over 2000 tt when finished. I am trying to time my application to minimize unemployed time. any suggestions as to when to put the application in. I wont leave before the terms of my agreement are met, as I believe a handshake is the same as a signature.

☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼

This is true. Interviewed in March and first available class was September. I am sure people interviewing now are being offered 2020 class dates.

Interviewed July 1, CRJ ground class date end of December. A coworker interviewed July 8, got a CRJ class date in January 2020. ERJ is about the same or further out.

Interview now!!

If you are getting multi engine TURBINE PIC at your your current job you might consider staying there until you have 1300 Multi Engine TURBINE PIC and then go to Skywest. You might get on with a major faster under that scenario but this is just one person's opinion and you never know what will happen. I have heard PSA has a flow to American that seems to be shrinking in time but I know nothing about PSA other than that. I do know Skywest is reported to be a great company if you look at their awards they received in the past and if you ask Skywest pilots in person. Over the last year or so I must have received favorable reviews from jumpseating Skywest pilots at least 6 or 7 times when I asked if they liked Skywest. I ask everyone I meet that works for a regional and in that tiny little unscientific poll, Skywest is the clear winner for being described as good or better. Hope this helps you but it is all just rumor and one person's opinion.

I talked to a guy about 2 weeks ago who had just interviewed and his class date wasn't til March. If you want to come here, apply now.

Sounds like an ERJ guy. CRJ is starting to get towards 2020 but coould get lucky with a spot around november.

Not to derail the thread, but if my interview goes well this week, I’ll have to choose the CRJ or ERJ. Is there any talk to chance the ERJ will move to the PHX base?

PHX is a very small CRJ base for all American flying, and there's little UA 175 flights. So...doubt it. As far as we all know there hasn't been any word spoken about 175 American flying coming anytime soon. If Compass folds when their 175 contract is up that flying is likely gonna go back to Envoy

CPZ flying in PHX is all for DL. If OO ends up getting more PHX flying, it will be from Mesa.

Oh interesting! Perhaps our 175 flying would kick up there then, thus the need for a 175 PHX base!

hawk21 08-14-2019 09:41 AM

The chance for a PHX 175 base is slim to none. Pick a CRJ class if you want PHX. Simple as that.

Compass had a MX im PHX. OO only has line MX there. No heavy MX. I don’t see that being a 175 base.
