Issue on latency?

So, this is a typical thing I hear going on. i'm still a bit new and wondering where this all began and just wondering what it all means

This is still a thing at Skywest? ALPA squashed this at Endeavor awhile back. Door closes and brake drops.

...And people wonder why we want ALPA at OO. Yes it’s very much a thing. They track it per captain and publicly publish latency times in crew rooms. You’ll get a call from the chief if you have too high of latency times.

So is this just when the bridge is pulled and the parking brake is off and you haven't pushed?

Latency is the time between block out and initial wheel movement.

The push started around start of the year with a few memos from the chief pilots. Everybody dismissed it until word started getting around that those with high latency were being called to talk with the chief.

Hot brakes matter

WTF, so this is why you have a latency problem? And I understand why there’s a need for the CP visits. Brakes are still hot 45 minutes after landing?

List being made public for shaming, is this how we do business now?

I think that is an LaGuardia tactic. Hear they will be closing soon.

Company slowly moving the goalpost:
"You'll get paid once the door closes and thereafter until it reopens, that's industry standard"
1 yr later
"Did I say door closes? Ahem.. Well I meant when pushback begins"
Another year passes
"it's always been when the aircraft moves under it's own power c'mon guys that's the policy we were just tracking the other two metrics"
5yrs from now... "ground movement eligible for compensation includes the takeoff roll after v1 and the landing rollout, but remember, deltas latency policy is to track the period between WOW and flap retraction on taxi in. any time in excess of 15 seconds will be scrutinized. This is to ensure the most efficient use of the runway surface of course"
