Hello,
I am really trying to come up with a decision as to what my best option would be as far as which regional to go to if I want to live in PDX. I am looking at the E175 for both Horizon and SkyWest. Can anyone help me weigh pros and cons?
Considerations:
-Base likely to get out of training
-Hotels
-Pay
-Speed of upgrade
-Benefits (including travel) for me and family
-Training experience
-Interview process
-General QOL stuff

Pilots are getting PDX in training... rest of the stuff i wouldn't worry about right now... QOL is always good living in base.. the rest of your list is equal or better as far as the industry goes..

You need to ask what's the upgrade for both in PDX. I would probably look for a jet upgrade, turboprop (ie Q400) PIC does not appear to be as attractive to majors as it once was.
Other than that, QX will probably always have a PDX base, OO will for the near term but might not always. If you're planning on moving on anyway, it should be fine either way. Also IIRC QX has some sort of flow to AS, which also has a PDX base.

As a E175 FO you’ll be sitting around with QX. They don’t fly much.
If this matters to you...hotels are way better with Skywest. Sure, you still get a bad one here and there, but QX’s best hotel is probably the DoubleTree in GEG. With Skywest I remember staying in Westin, Renaissance or Sheraton. But again, I don’t think it matters that much. As far as travel benefits...Skywest has more to offer. Based on your base you’ll get legacy airlines flight benefits. Sure, lower priority, but still higher than ZED fares QX guys will have to purchase.
