What to do, what to do?
Hey all,
very fortunate to have multiple CJO's in the books, two being Skywest and Trans State. Here are a couple of givens:
1. Retiring military jet pilot w/ >3500 hours (last flying was 2018)
2. ATP complete
3. SkyWest CRJ class start = 4 April // Trans State ERJ start = 14 Jan
4. Want to be based in Denver or Colorado Springs (currently live in C Springs)
5. Want to fly as much as possible
6. Hopefully get picked up by Majors ASAP
Clearly SkyWest has the better rep b/w the two. I can get Denver fairly easily as a base, and quickly.
I know I'm posting this on a SkyWest forum, but looking for more objective responses in helping inform my decision on which is better and why. Looking for the good, the bad, the ugly.
Thank you much.

Take the first class date you can. With your stats you'll be at the majors quickly. Three months is a *huge* difference in seniority. I'm an OO guy...trust me, go wherever you can start flying the soonest. And thank you for your service!

assuming FW mil, i would go wherever you can first. DEN is jr at TSA. OO is a good place but if you have 3500hrs of FW mil time you should be a touch and go at the regionals( the guy in my newhire class who had similar stats was called by and interviewed at DL between sims and IOE) . best of luck and thanks for your service!

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's refreshing to see some positive and helpful comments on these threads. I get a little perturbed reading this site because every regional sucks, every major or legacy sucks, everything is doom and gloom, blah blah blah. Makes you wonder if everything is so bad why not move on to different things? I've seen some pretty horrible stuff and almost been killed numerous times in military ops and we managed to stay positive and have a good time regardless. Anyhow, off soapbox.
Thanks again. Happy Friday and happy flying.

Fortunately, the jaded, bitter, juvenile sarcasm found on these forums (and the Interwebz in general) bears little resemblance to actually flying the line. Most people on the flight deck are good eggs. I mean, the worst event in most pilot's days is when the van is 10 minutes late, or when you get stuck in the penalty box at ORD watching your last commute option home as it pushes out of the gate. Nobody's shooting at us. Although I will say that MREs are vastly tastier than most UAL snack boxes
