If the music does stop right now, would you rather be on reserve for years as an East Coaster at OO or 9E?

I'm not saying that's where we are, but it's food for thought.

The music HAS stopped. It will be stopped for quite some time.

SkyWest is a fine place to be as a pilot, but let's look at just a few things here.

Reserve rules: SkyWest is, well, lets call it what it is, abusive when it comes to particularly ready reserve assignments. Why? Because it can be. Ask an Endeavor pilot about ready reserve and he or she will describe an equitable policy with rules actually making a ready assignment desirable. Ask a Republic pilot, and you'll get an incredulous look, as my understanding is they dont even have ready reserve.
things must have changed because a few years ago everyone I knew at EDV on RES was complaining about endless rdy with little flying.

Republic has some of the highest per diem in the regional sector, and an override for international flying, not to mention top pay well above that of SkyWest, particularly when also figuring in ATL and DTW are CRJ only, and both offer rapid advancement for the time being. I know Republic has a minimum of 150% on open time premium pay.
Endeavor does not get profit sharing. in 2019 most captains at SkyWest probably made in the 10K range in PS and bonuses
OO also has trip and duty rigs which 9E does not. also RAH per diem is 15 cents an hour higher than OOs while EDV is 15 cents lower

every CRJ domicile has UA and DL benefits, 4 have AA.

I could go on with commuter hotels, positive space commuter clauses, the list is long, and safe to say pretty much on every measurable criteria both Republic and Endeavor beat us. Besides, if your on the east coast Republic has like 12 bases all in the eastern timezone, no chance of your base shutting down and getting forced to commute to senior bases far from home and sitting ready reserve.
neither republic or endeavor offer commuter hotels

I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'd support and advise a person who wanted to live in Boise or Salt Lake to come here, it's been a great ride for me, but as I said, if you're planning to stay back east, I dont see it.

the last I saw is neither RAH or 9E had line holding CAs outside NY under 3 years. OO has plenty in ATL and DTW which are much more commuter friendly. with that said OO certainly has its issues and I would probably be looking hard at republic right now if I were getting into the regionals.

This should be a wake up call to everyone....go to the regional you would be okay getting stuck at for an extended period of time. You never know when things are going to slow down.
