I have 121 turbine experience and now I get to fly another prop, kinda sick of the prop, I have SJS. On the Bright side upgrade is quicker and less time on reserve with SKYW- I want to be based out of Chicago as well, but thats only after a year of equipment lock to transition to the CRJ to get o'hare--

Does anybody know if Skywest comes to its employees to see after a year if they want to transition before hiring outsiders???
Is there a chance to get SLC as a new hire EMB-120 hire for reserve?
how about going to the place where you don't have to pay union dues. Going to XJT is an instant 2% hit off your paycheck every month after the first year. That's a no brainer. No union drama to deal with to boot. Thats like chosing between getting to do what you want with 2% of your paycheck every month and throwing 2% away to a cause that hasn't helped anyone for a while.

Express is a great company! We put up with the same crap Skywest does but honestly its a great place to work. From my research both are. XJT has lots of good people, best pay in the industry, and descent schedules. Upgrade of 2 years is not that bad. My first choice and couldnt be happier!

yea this industry is fickle to say the least.....we at express WERE nervous but now that we are keeping our 69 planes and venturing out....things have gotten better. no furloughs, no paycuts, more opportunities with the cash to back it up.

I had a similar situation. SkyWest put me in the jet tho but at the time Eagle was knockign on my door.

Turns out, I got lucky in my choice.

In 4 years, your memories of the Bro will be faded and you will be left with a kind of badge-of-honor SW bro pilots have. They flew low, slow and multi leg days in WX into small airports. They seem to know they are proficient and the confidence surrounds them.

The pay is the same rj/emb for the 1st year and in just a few short months..(your in training about 3 months anyways) so a total of 1 year is really only about 9 mo on the line...you will be in ground school for rj-fo in ORD. And then a few months from that ...upgrade class for the plane you want in the town you live in. (now..if we could only get pay raise!!!)

Good luck with your decision.

There is no certainty in either job, but if you have the upgrade minimums for SkyWest 2500/1000 (multi turbine) upgrade may come faster than you think. I left Eagle last year after 1.5 years in the CRJ to go to SkyWest. After 13 months at SkyWest flying the CRJ and I am going to the BRO as a captain. A year seat lock will go fast. You just have to ask yourself, do you want to fly a jet or do you want to upgrade.

If you are going to quote Airplane, make sure the quote (and spelling) is right.

"-surely you can't be serious?
-I AM serious, and don't call me Shirley"

"-You ever seen a grown man naked?"

"-Joey, have you ever been in a, in a , Turkish prison?"

I would like to know exactly WHERE you are flying these airplanes. All I have seen is that you are keeping them, never had I heard an official destination?????

that is one of the most abrasive and inflamatory statements I have seen on this board in a long time...head over to flight info if that's the kind of dialog you want to engage in...hell I'd rather read another of d'angelo's posts than that that kind of crap.

And CHQ's time will come eventually too...maybe when you're a jet captain with two kids and a pregnant wife...oops! demotion to reserve FO 2000 miles from home Don't believe me? Watch what is going to happen to mesa in the next few months...

James014,
You guys didn't so much take our flying (or who ever's flying it is) as we gave it to you. We didn't want to go down to your level of pay and work rules so we walked away from the flying. Some day you will want to get a real contract and quit going around "taking" everyones flying. Until then enjoy losing MCO to Mesa and your other Delta flying.

I certainly hope others at CHQ aren't as big of jerks as you are.
