No. I'm not talking about the fuel. I'm talking about wear and tear on the APU, specifically start cycles. Yes, the margins are that slim.

Thin profit margins, sure. But....the above examples of the E145 vs an ATR. 40% more fuel burn on a 400sm leg with the jet, no appreciable time savings with an ATR on a 300 NM leg. ATR costs less to buy, and carries 18 more passengers. It would work unrestricted. on any route east of Colorado or along the west coast. Do 8 legs a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year and there's a huge profit margin - factor in a fleet of say 50 and the profits are "more huge", tens of millions of dollars. However, I am sure mainline essentially says what aircraft to buy (presumably so they can also operate on 200 and 1000+ nm segments) and also knows the costs of their operation. Then makes sure their contract isn't going to give anything but thin profit margins to the contractor.

According to Chips memo we are to keep passengers Comfortable!

Not happening in PHX during the summer, even with the APU running. It's bad enough on the 900, but the 200 is straight up miserable. I really feel for the passengers.

Start the APU and swap the bleeds on the way down. It helps a lot. Still not enough though

Can someone fill me in on the particulars of reserve?
Short call? Long call? Ready reserve? What's the earliest call out for each/either/all? How long duration for them? Call out time(s)? Is the policy standard system wide or are their variations?

I don't know who did the operational control video, but they did a really nice job with it. It was really well thought out and planned.

Normal reserve is 4:00am-1600. Pm reserve is 0900-2100. Two hour call out. Long call reserve is 12 hour call out and usually used first if able. 3 or 4 days can be turned to short call (2 hours) ready reserve is usually assigned after or before a trip to my knowledge. Same system wide.

I doubt any US legacies are very interested in acquiring more props at this point...customer experience is gradually making a rebound as a performance metric, and the pax don't like props. There will always be niche markets, but I wouldn't expect any sort of increase in prop fleets...at least until oil gets back to $140/bbl.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

What flavor is today's koolaid?

Gullible grape?

It was a good video...can't argue with that.
