What's the trick with getting CS to early release you on your last day of RES? I'm 0 for XX.

Would that equate to an occurrence if one did have an "emergency" and got an early release?

We're not Flight Attendants; we don't get "occurrences." Now if you skip out and take a chance that they won't call you and then they do, you'll get a SAD (scheduled assignment deviation). But keep in mind we received an email from KB's several years ago stating no pilot will ever be fired for a SAD. This doesn't mean you can rack them up, they can still call in to do a carpet dance if you get a lot of them, but they're mostly irrelevant...... that is unless you plan on being a CKA one day. I actually met a pilot with 22 SADs once. He had been commuting to RSV in ORD for 3 years back when we stagnated and refused to sit in domicile. I disagreed with what he was doing, flat out it's unethical, but he’s still here today. Basically SADs are for FAs and since we used to have the same manuals CS started giving them to us, this is one of the many reasons why we separated our manual from theirs and Klen sent out that email.

BTW, if you're going to call in emergency you might as well take the entire day off since they'll pull user time to cover it. Why sit around all day when you don't have to?

I think they just had their first 175 revenue flight from ORD to DCA.
