Default Bose QC15/Ufly mic TSO'd for Skywest?

Is this poor mans ANR combo required to be TSO'd to use with SKywest. I wonder if some airlines require that or not. Uflymic will TSO it for a small cost but I would rather not pay if I do not have to.

Also, how many of you use this setup? Do you like it? How does it compare to the A20 or older Bose ANR headsets?

Thanks

To the best of my, or any other pilot's knowledge, SKW does not require the TSO configuration.

But it's cheap and easy to carry a set of earbuds in your flight case in case you have a fed on board and want to be extra safe.

I've use them an love them. My airline didn't require the headsets to be TSO'd. If your worried just spend the few bucks for them to throw the sticker on them and the ear buds.

They are amazing, MUCH better than the telex 850's, and better than the $1000 Bose aviation headsets. I feel the aviation ones clamp too much. The QC15s can be worn all day and still feel really comfortable. Your not gonna regret it, hardly anyone knows about them anyways and assumes they are legit. At least in my last 6 years of using them, that has been the case.

How does the headset do with the extremely loud display cooling fan on the CRJ? How well does it work/fit with glasses?

It helps a lot with the fans, I notice I'm much less fatigued after a long day with th QC15s vs the telex 850s, if you compare the 2, I'd consider the 850's ANR to be totally worthless.

Sunglasses aren't too bad, defiantly wearable, but since the earpad cushions go around the ear, there is a slight increase in noise while wearing sunglasses because they break the "seal" around your ear. That being said, I don't hesitate to use sunglasses if I need them.

I've seen guys wear them in the Brasilia. I'm guessing if it works well with the Bro the CRJ cooling fan would be a non-issue.

It's more comfortable to wear with glasses than the actual Bose Headset X and A20 because it's a lot lighter weight and doesn't clamp as hard. You shouldn't have a problem with your glasses being uncomfortable unless they're really thick.

Years ago I bought the uflymike for $195 shipped, and I had the QC15 (paid $200 for a new set on eBay).

I paid three hundred bucks for the headset at an airport and then another couple hundred for the uflymike, earbuds, and FAA hard-on softening tso sticker. I had to send the headset in for all that. Very good piece of gear. And there is simply no comparing these to a Telex. Night and day.
