How many do we really need?

With the present fleet, the fleet on order, and projections for the near- and mid-range future, how many Regional aircraft types, made by how many aircraft manufacturers, can the global air system economically absorb?

You can only afford to spend so much national pride (read: subsidies). We've seen Canadian Pride. Now we may be seeing Chinese Pride, Japanese Pride, Ukrainian Pride,...

The concept of 'Too big to allow failure' is getting a workout.

That's not really fair. The problem was in the A/C sensors. Hardly a show stopper, they just wanted to be safe.

And don't forget Mitsubishi is basically making its first new plane in 60 years. It is essentially starting from scratch. That's a brutal learning curve and they have paid for it. Are you forgetting all the Dreamliner problems?

I'd fly on an MRJ over that Chinese plane any day of the week. Japanese quality vs. Chinese quality? Not even a contest.

That is funny you bring up the Dreamliner and Japanese quality - a huge problem with the Dreamliner was cracks in the wings due to parts made by? Yep, a company in Japan - Mitsubishi. And you don't think a large number of parts in this new plane will be built in China? Unless the US major airlines buy into this project then how do they plan on making money?

You guys wont hold scope, and you know it because history says so. You guys have a history of folding like a shirt on stuff like this.

You are going off of past actions, I'm basing my info on the current Intel from the company and our negotiatiors. You can believe anything you want. Like I said earlier, there is a chance more 76 seat RJs will be allowed and given to whomever will park their 50 seat aircraft. No one here is talking about an increase in MGTOW.

I guess we will just have to wait and see who's right...

Nope. You're just a tool bag who thinks he knows everything. It's pretty common knowledge that our COO has said the MRJ would never fly here. But what do I know, I just fly airplanes, oh, and parade.

Did they order them with the hope/expectation that scope would be relaxed?

Nobody has any real orders for that plane. Non firm orders are allowed by manufacturers because they're better than no orders, make good publicity, and might actually firm up at some point in the future.

It's almost certain that SKW leveraged the MRJ orders to get better terms from embrear, which essentially has become a monopoly since bombardier has essentially resigned from the RJ market due to lack of relevant products going forward..

The airplane is going to be 2 years late anyway, is there even a binding agreement in that case...

I'm the tool because I called you out for not knowing what you're taking about? Maybe you can tell us which regional's routes mighty Skywest is taking over next?

gonna have to ask for a link on that, because all I heard about was cracks in the windows and problems with the batteries.

Not that hard to find, just Google Dreamliner wing cracks:

I'm not really sure where your butthurt is coming from, but it's laughable at best.
