I don't agree. Although the SWA style interview is becoming more mainstream, the "tell me about a time" questions can not be answered without some specific preparation. If you have been in the business long enough to meet the minimum requirements, you most likely have a myriad of experiences which will fit the bill, however, recalling those experiences on cue are very difficult for the average applicant without some specific preparation. I'm not advocating "canned" answers, but reviewing your experiences and practicing how to portray personal experiences into possible questions is essential to answering questions in a favorable way.

There are many ways to recall your personal experiences without hesitation when asked but many applicants will benefit from undergoing mock interviews and contemplating potential questions before sitting in the hot seat. That doesn't mean an interview prep is absolutely essential to everyone, but most will benefit greatly from a focused and insightful preparation process.

I did an interview prep prior to my interview in the early 2000's and I found it to be most helpful. A quality service will never tell you what to say but more how to say it.

This is the best advice you could ever get. Rebekah Krone all the way. Don’t spend your money anywhere else!!

Another vote for Vicki Ross. She charges per hour so you can use as much or as little time as you need.

Vicki Ross.
She was on the interview team for years and flew the line.
Great price too.

I used Checked and Set for app review. Even though I had a friend who had used their services look over my stuff and make corrections, I still had plenty of stuff they had me correct. I had miscalculated days between two jobs and forgot to add an explanation for the time I was unemployed. Got the email to interview shortly after.

I attended a free seminar through my union with Emerald Coast a few years back so I had plenty of stories prepared. Scheduled a 1 hour top off with them about a week prior to the interview for $100 just for peace of mind and wound up spending about 90-100 minutes on the phone with them.

The interview itself is about as laid back as it can be. Any pressure I felt was definitely put on by me. Smile, relax and be yourself is the best advice I can offer.

If you're still giving canned answers after going through a prep service, you should ask for your money back.

Over the course of several years while waiting for the interview invite, I used 3 different services. I was honest about that when they asked, and I still got the job. It's a million dollar career you're interviewing for, spend a few hundred bucks to make sure you are putting your best foot forward.

I also recommend Rebekah Krone and her team.

Sorry for the thread drift but does anyone know if the guy who wore the crazy shorts to the interview a couple of months ago got the job?

Apparently a dude took a cue from a story in Nuts! and showed up in Bermuda shorts. Heard it was not as well received as it was in the 90’s.
