So SWA is loosing pilots (not many but not 100% retained) ... they are planning a 450 new hire this year but they only got 100 out of the Expo ... and we are 1/2 way 2019 Q2 ... what's going on ... MAX 8 grounded can be one reason!
The main reason was that there were 3 upgrade classes per month since January. They were running 1 new hire class through March, April has had 2 already. This slowdown in new hire training was planned well before the MAX grounding. It will be interesting to see how much hiring continues this summer. I have a friend interviewing this week, so SWA is still hiring. I would also leave for Delta, if I lived in one of their bases. Commuting for an entire career would get old fast.

Happens everywhere. I had a friend leave SWA at year three to FEDEX. Had another leave American awaiting training to come to SWA, and another leave UPS after training to come to SWA. Pretty sure most will jump at the first offer, but when later faced with options do what’s best for them. Luckily, a lot of pilots have options at the moment, so can skip the career long commute, do that international flying, trade whiney pax for silent boxes, trade fast upgrades for perceived job security, etc.

People that went to the Feb expo are still interviewing...literally this week, last week, and into May. Not sure where you got the "only got 100" tidbit but it's a bit premature to say how successful, or not, the expo was.

Not everyone who attended the expo was available immediately either. They seem to be bringing expo folks in for interview as their timing lines up from what I’m seeing.

Yeah my availability date is Aug 1st, so I wasn't expecting a call right away. Still, it'd be great to know!

That's why I was looking to update my application. I did an update on Pilot Credentials yesterday, but the careers site didn't let me do anything resembling an update. Hopefully they can pull straight from Pilot Credentials when the time comes.

Good luck, everybody!

All I’ve been doing on ICIMS (is that the careers website you’re talking about?) is just updating my resume with current hours. That’s really all I can see on there to do.

Edit: I just read your previous post. I believe I remember something about them saying at the expo that if your emails match on the careers page and PC then they will marry up and all the info will be there for them to see. Good luck!

And DON'T delete old applications...you never know which one will get your name called. They'll flush out old windows as necessary.

Yeah, I definitely won't do that. I applied to the Expo window just like they asked us to do. Fingers crossed!
