It is 3 days on the road right. Fly day, down day, fly day? Did I understand that correctly?

It won't work that way for Most. I can only speak for Jetblue. Our contract will not allow us to be Guadoluped. The buying entity or owner of the buying entity must integrate the pilots of the purchased airline(Jetblue) using McCaskill Bond. Also no furlough of purchased airline pilots until at least two years after integration. That means no threat of dissolving the group if we don't agree to SWA terms will stand. If the two pilot groups can't come to an agreement on integration, it goes to arbitration. At arbitration, both sides present their arguments and the arbitrator comes to a conclusion.

Like most of you guys I hope it doesn't happen. I love SWA and think it's a great airline but as a senior guy at Jetblue, I don't see an upside for me. You guys do have slightly higher W2's but based on the friends I have there, you work much harder than I do. I like flying one leg to Aruba, layover for 24 hours and fly one leg back.

p.s. I don't usually step into other airline threads but on my Aruba layover last week, an SWA captain looked me in the eye and said, "you know we are buying you in two months". I've heard millions of rumors in my time but never timelines. Ha.

We are buying you in two months? What a dipwad. Sounds like a guy with typical SWA early 2000’s superiority complex.

Nobody is buying anybody right now. There will be another round of consolidation, but it won’t happen until someone is on the ropes. Right now you can’t not make money unless you are a complete shill of an operation like new Eastern. Fuel is cheap and people want to fly everywhere. Wait until the economy takes a dump and or fuel goes through the roof. The bit players will get gobbled up by airlines with deep pockets or will merge as a survival move.

All this pilot talk of what will happen in a merger is ridiculous. The last true staple was AA and TWA. Since then, every merger has been a fairly equitable arrangement despite the whining of a few. You know that when nobody is happy that things went exactly as they should have.

right, no one buying yet, however it must be a option. The FAA supposedly hasn’t given a timeline but said it would be this year , yes they statement makes little sense

As a stand alone trip, a fly down, 24hr overnight, fly back would be a two day trip.

Ok. If it is a 2 day trip and only pays 10 that would stink in my view. Ours would have to pay min 13.0 if it was scheduled like that on the line. Thanks for the clarification

13 TFP. Which roughly equates to 11.05 hours of pay.

Yeah that's a possible based on that route. I keep forgetting our pay is different.

Well it would also depend. I've done many 2 days for 13 which block under 10 and still get the 13.

It’s really not a ____ measuring contest. It’s ok to admit that there are things at other airlines that are better than they are at ours. It doesn’t mean we have to love our company/job any less.

It’s hard to argue that one leg to a Caribbean overnight and then one leg back is a bad trip. We know as well as anyone that one pilots trash is another’s treasure. Some trips I want to bust it and make $$$. Others I want a low block, rig trip to a nice overnight. To me the difference between his 10 hour rig trip and our 11.05 rig trip is insignificant. I’d pick up an Aruba overnight that paid 11! :)
