Absolutely. Being out on long term leave should have no effect. You’re on the list. “Should”

Of course they've earned the right to make whatever decision is best for they and their family, but they need to remember that very real jobs on the bottom of the list are depending on this program. So greed, nitpicking, or boastful non participation should be politely kept to ones self. This is emotional. They need to understand that FOs are watching all of this with nail biting anxiety.

I understand Zap. If they cut deep enough to get you they’ll cut deep enough to downgrade me (again). That said.....relax man. They’ll be plenty of early outs and long-term leave. We’re not furloughing. I’m fairly confident of that.

Now as for all you senior 60+ *******ers.....it was great flying with you, but seriously.......go away.:D

Crockrocket95 06-03-2020 06:41 PM

Amen to that. Both Whack and Zap lol

I appreciate that, but it's not about me. It's about Dean and everyone above him. His fate will be his fate, but those pilots who are pontificating about how they just couldn't go a second earlier unless their sick bank is paid out in Spanish galleons are just tone deaf.

Do what you want, but if you know your decision will potentially cause the furlough of a fellow pilot, keep it to yourself. (That isn't directed at you Whack, it's more of a fraternal "you")

No, no. I agree with you. They should keep their mouth shut instead of gloating. I completely agree. Fortunately, I’m not 60 (+) but if I was I’d take the early out so quick that my head would spin.

I/we’re not in their shoes and don’t know their financial picture though and kind of don’t have a right to judge. That said, if you’re just hanging on cause being a senior SWA Cptn is a cool hobby, but someone on the opposite end of the seniority list might be furloughed, you should probably swallow a large humility pill and shut the eff up amongst your peers that may be in jeopardy of being out on the street.

Yup....

I spoke to one of my friends (senior to me by a few years) who I figured would jump on this deal, and after talking to him, I get why he isn't. Not sure I'd do the same in his shoes, but I respect his decision. He is definitely not one of the guys who's entire life revolves around sitting in a 737 cockpit either. I did reiterate that this is an amazing deal, and that he really should reconsider and take it.... ;)

I do think that enough folks are gonna take it, in spite of TDs arguments on TOF against it. Heck, the fact that he's arguing so vehemently against it is proof positive that it's a pretty good deal!

Whacked, the same could be said for those on the bottom end of the seniority list who'd greatly benefit if those senior to them took VSP or EXTO. Shut the eff up and let those who are eligible make their decision. If they'd like to point out that they'd be thankful for the decreased possibility of furlough, that's great. Pontificating on why they should leave is not.

'm not eligible for VSP and don't have the finances for EXTO. I will likely gain some seniority -- but I'm not going to nudge people out the door because it's good for me. I agree with the poster who noted that crap like that just gives the eligible less reason to leave (the SOBs who would be helped aren't even gracious).

I get the logic of this argument but the reality is you cannot call in sick for every trip. Please correct me if Im wrong but if you do this, you will get a call from the chief pilot and then you will be told to see a medical professional for whatever is causing you to call in sick everyday.

They might call a few times, but they really don't have a leg to stand on. If you say you're not fit to fly, you're not fit to fly. Period.

Valid points indeed.
