I second BWI Signature's reputation. I've flown in and out of there a few times and avoid it as beset I can. I have never done it GA with BWI Signature though. There has to be someone at BWI who does it. Maybe they have some inside gouge.
What about Tipton just down the road? It's a 15-20 minute drive to the prison lot and having an airport car shuttling between the two might be an option. |
In my opinion driving 2.5 hours beats commuting by airplane any day. Much less stress involved and you are in control of your own destiny.

Pool I live about 1:50 from BWI in South Jersey. I either do early AM’s and try to finish by 2pm on the last day or PM’s that start around 2pm and finish after midnight on go home day. I would say about 75% of the time I don’t have a problem with I 95 traffic. Whatever you do try to avoid PM starts on Friday or Sunday afternoon finishes in the Summer, otherwise I have had the 4+ hour drive……..good luck!!

The one FBO at BWI is exceedingly expensive to park at. I would be surprised if there is anyone that flies their own airplane in there on a regular basis.

I used to drive ~3hrs down to PDX. It was a commute, but it was a driving commute. No waiting for a flight, no crossing fingers to get the jump seat, no cramming in next to a fat guy, no rushing to catch an earlier jet. Hop in the car and go.
Audiobooks, music, and cruise control. Bid around the traffic if possible; if not just chill out in the right lane with the truckers and creep past all the folks playing slinky in the left lanes. You'll learn pretty quickly how to flow through the traffic and which routes are the quickest. |

Also a good point. One of the reasons I don’t commute.
But for me, we will be moving from an area of relatively low cost of living to a much higher cost, and everything adds up, and I tend to dive to deep into the details of such things. In the big scheme of things however, you are probably right. I don’t work for SWA but I routinely take the toll road when I drive to work. I also park in short term, when I don’t feel like taking the long employee bus ride. I’ve listened to too many wheel chair pushers blast music or FaceTime at 5am on the employee bus. Doing such a long drive you’ll need to put everything in your corner to make your life more agreeable, or else you’ll turn into the 30-year retiree that non-revs center seat to save on airfare. |

Really need to look at this from a quality of life standpoint.
Also I recently bought a car with adaptive cruise. Game changer...in traffic I sit in the center lane and let all the yahoos race around me while I chill. I arrive much more relaxed. |

Do you adaptive CC people realize how much $ you’re wasting in gas?!
:D |
But seriously, I just flew with a guy that absolutely swears by his Tesla’s autopilot.
