You old boomers need to get with the times. If it takes Big Ern to motivate the kids to become Southwest pilots and keep the airplanes staffed, you shouldn’t be complaining! He also doesn’t publish anything that was recorded with the door closed. 🧐

I think he comes off as a good person. His content is obviously aimed not at other major pilots, but anyone up and coming, student pilot through regional/corporate who are interested in the majors. The guy seems nice, pleasant, and I have a feeling I would enjoy flying with him if he was at my shop.

Agreed. But, I’d bet a mortgage payment he has a bumper sticker that says, “My other ride is a 737.” Also, you’d know he was a pilot within 5 minutes of meeting him the first time… cause he’d tell you.

I’ve had 3 GA/CFI type pilots ask me if I know him on deadheads, one asked me when I was buying my million dollar Cirrus, hah.

I’ve watched a few of his videos and it’s pretty obvious he has the full blessing of SW. I would never partake in documenting my work life like that, but there are far worse offenders at our carrier (the Chicago chick) and others. Those are cringe level 12, Big E is like a 2 in comparison.
