I’ve had 3 GA/CFI type pilots ask me if I know him on deadheads, one asked me when I was buying my million dollar Cirrus, hah.

I’ve watched a few of his videos and it’s pretty obvious he has the full blessing of SW. I would never partake in documenting my work life like that, but there are far worse offenders at our carrier (the Chicago chick) and others. Those are cringe level 12, Big E is like a 2 in comparison.

And none of them here are as bad as Swayne on the cringe factor. Or if you want to just be mad at a pilot, there's Taylor Jacob. I'd link his channel but there's no way I want that loser gaining any more clicks than he already has.

My favorite lately has been Donovan Batiste. I dig his channel.

Heard about him on the 21.Five podcast. That guy is full of enthusiasm. "Let it do what it do!"

I laugh every time I see that guy land with his arm resting on the right seat.

The Garrett guy is bad too and the United man boi…I think the best comment was something like “imagine one of his 4 kids walking in on daddy filming a tik tok, full uniform, on a day off”.

As opposed to a doctor? Perhaps a lawyer? Why are pilots so ashamed to be pilots?

Some people don’t feel the need to advertise it. I want as little attention as possible!

The old joke..."How do you know if there's a pilot at your party.....don't worry, he'll tell you!"

Speaking of the interview team, I flew with one of them not to long ago. He wears some hipster shoes while in uniform, no where near to what is allowed, One on the questions they now ask in the interview is “ what would you say or do if you saw another pilot not dressed per the uniform code “

This place wrote the book on Do what I say, not what I do .

Did he mention how many applicants are on file, or how many they will realistically hire? Or how the chief pilots board can no longer override HR’s thumbs down on an applicant?

I don’t care if this Big Ern guy has a social media following—maybe his stuff stirs some interest in applying to SWA. That’s all fine, but that’s for folks at the Private Pilot or high school dream level.

My thoughts remain that SWA needs to step up and put down the YouTube and iron out a contract that will attract qualified pilots instead of insisting that we have applicants out the door…well never mind, they are out the door. To Delta.

Us hired in 2015 were at the front of a very different wave.

That makes two of us. I like my privacy. I don’t wear any Company apparel, hats, shirts or anything of the sort that may identify me as a Southwest or airline pilot for that matter. I do wear apparel promoting experimental and general aviation because I’m active in both.

But I don’t begrudge those who flaunt what they fly or what they do for a living. They enjoy it, and they’ll be happy to talk your ear off about it. Why put down or mock someone else’s enthusiasm just because you’re not enthusiastic about it? But even more specifically, why is it “cool” to hide the fact that you’re a pilot?

Just like Whack could talk your ear off about his Miata (a total chick car BTW [emoji12]), I’d personally talk your ear off about GA and the world of experimental aviation. Why is one cool and the other mot?
