Netflix has a new documentary coming out soon that will bring the MAX scandal to the forefront again.
2020 / COVID-19 was a great distraction from the Boeing backlash. That said, does Southwest want its future tethered entirely to one aircraft design from an American aerospace company that has been declining? I know SWA used the MAX debacle to secure an even cheaper, thicker order book … but wow, a second airframe (A220? A320? E195 E2?) seem more necessary as ever as SWA sims to be a 1,000+ airframe airline. |
Over 30 regulators combed through the max with a fine tooth comb. No airframe in the history of aviation has gone through so much scrutiny. This airframe will be around for a very long time before Swa considers a replacement for it. Especially at the prices that we purchased them for. People here who are dreaming of flying something different narrowbody or widebody will be the most disappointed. This airline will continue to play out the recipe that has worked well for them till it doesn’t.

and adding a 2nd fleet type does not protect the company from another grounding. Losing 50% of our capacity is just as crippling as losing 100%. Adding a 2nd type just doubles our odds of another grounding issue. Andrew Watterson thinks we’d need 6-8 fleet types before there is any real protection.
does AK. HI has 3. AA has 4. Clearly 6-8 is ridiculous since others have figured it out with far less. |
Just merge with JetBlue and get it over with;)

I would LOVE that!
not if they got similar seniority you wouldn’t!! The majority of their pilots are commuters. The bases they have might be a blessing to some but the majority they wouldn’t. As former Tran I hope that we don’t! |
