DOWNFALL: The Case Against Boeing

Netflix has a new documentary coming out soon that will bring the MAX scandal to the forefront again.

2020 / COVID-19 was a great distraction from the Boeing backlash. That said, does Southwest want its future tethered entirely to one aircraft design from an American aerospace company that has been declining? I know SWA used the MAX debacle to secure an even cheaper, thicker order book … but wow, a second airframe (A220? A320? E195 E2?) seem more necessary as ever as SWA sims to be a 1,000+ airframe airline.

Not sure I agree with the argument but the justification I read was even if we had another airframe, losing 50% of your fleet still has the same outcome. It’s too much to absorb and bankruptcy will be knocking at the door (without government intervention).

Eventually they'll have to get a new type. Boeing will eventually have to come up with a new design for a narrowbody, since the 737 is going to hit 60 soon, and the 757 is out of production. But because of the 737 MAX cluster, Southwest just got themselves the next three decades of their fleet for an even better deal than they were already getting.

Nothing says socialism like restrictions and protecting certain corporations.

Or spending tens of billions of dollars to ensure airline employees didn’t lose their jobs and kept getting paid during the pandemic.

If someone were to drive a truck through your front door, wouldn’t you say it’s their responsibility to fix your house? The problem was compounded and is being compounded by the government. Lockdowns did nothing. Who promoted them? Government. Who instituted them? Government. I’m sick of this “well your a socialist because you were ok taking government money argument. Government caused the problem that they still refuse to actually fix. Instead we’re left trying to clean up the mess they made and are continuing to make.

I heard this latest batch of MAX orders was bought at 20 million a copy, or “in the 20s”. If so….holy crap.

unless the trucker has no money and has to take money from your entire neighborhood by force. Thats the government for you. they have no money and no resources, except those they can take at gunpoint from you.
