How many of the 1400 picketers will vote yes? how many regional pilots have we hired lately vs military? This isn't their first rodeo and they haven't been conditioned to say yes the last 20 years. "38% will vote yes" is still an outdated argument simply because the dynamics of the pilot group have changed.

Sorry, but I believe you are wrong - I hope you're right. SNAPA hasn't even filed for mediation. Our "association" doesn't even know how this game is played. Much less the Pollyannas that management continually stuffs into the right seat. Bookmark this thread. If we get a good solid contract and a full rewrite with raises that actually beat inflation, I'll eat my words. Otherwise - I'll be here to say "I told you so." History has a way of repeating.

I'm not commenting on swapa's efforts. I'm commenting on the idea that we have 38% automatic yes votes. We'll find out when the voting closes.

That is some wishful thinking. I would like to believe you are correct, but I know you are way off. If anything, the company propaganda machine is better than it has ever been .

Heck , WN has the ex SWAPA union president, who helped write most of the current contract ,now working for them.

our pilot group had nothing to do with that decision, and I don’t know anyone who is OK with that. Sometimes the company propaganda machine steps on its own d*@k

Much more often, though, we step on our own crank. Where is the outcry from all these hard-nosed, won’t-settle-for-mediocrity pilots we supposedly have on board now at SWA demanding that we file for mediation yesterday? Why aren’t you demanding that SWAPA file for mediation?

Look at United. They have all the same leverage that we have right now: the supposed pilot shortage and training center issues. They also went years without filing for mediation. Look at what that got them: a Tumi suitcase, sub-inflationary pay raises, and work rule concessions. Maybe if they had conducted a couple of pickets they would have really shown management they meant business?

Or maybe if they’d filed for mediation 3.5 years ago, they very credibly could have right now been posing the real threat to management of a work interruption or stoppage in the near future. How would that have amped up their leverage? Maybe they would have gotten a lot, lot more than a Tumi TA.

But their pilot group was asleep at the wheel for four years believing their own hype that a possible pilot shortage would be enough. They didn’t demand that their MEC and NC attempt to develop real leverage. And now they are where they are, years behind where they could have been and threatening to lower the bar for the entire profession. We’re currently on a similar path.

I do they believe they know. But maybe the polling data they received says otherwise !

Maybe. Or maybe not.

Over at United right now, many in their ranks are expressing dismay that, after four-plus years of assuming their MEC, NC, and exec’s knew what they were doing, it turns out, as is evidenced by the Tumi TA, that their union leadership clearly didn’t know how to obtain an industry-leading TA for their pilot group.

Maybe UAL ALPA can blame it on their polling data. And maybe their pilot group can feel better about an almost concessionary TA because UAL ALPA may have had polling data suggesting everyone over there would be okay with getting a suitcase instead of improvements to pay, work rules, and retirement.

United ALPA's last membership poll was in 2018 or 19. They were out of touch to say the least.

And maybe BoJangles will offer us a big screen TV and a pizza party at Chuck E Cheese.

The answer to this... reality is bitter to come to terms with...we just don't have that many pilots that feel this way. There's even more apathy in the left seats %wise, which is a shame. You have many careerist SWAPA members, and me-me-me-me future company men within our union ranks.

SWAPA 2.0 is a move in the right direction. And all we can muster at the moment.
