If he mouths off, ask him to mark the tape and give you a phone number for his supervisor. I've done this more than once before in another environment and it can be surprisingly effective both short and long term.

Brah, you an odd tough guy bro.
Why not call them out when they get belligerent or unprofessional? Would you think to be an ********* to a controller? No? Then why would you accept a controller being one to you? |

Maybe it is just the personality. How about cutting ATC a break , everyone can have a bad day . Put your time and Energy towards your employer, who is shorting the pilot group millions a year in incorrect pay.
Think about that for a second. Did you ever fly with someone who has no business being in the cockpit? I’m sure the same can be said for some individuals in tower cabs or radar rooms. |

The controller in question seems to be “having a bad day” so frequently that a bunch of pilots that have to deal with his “bad days” on a frequent basis even decided to start a thread about him.

Exactly, the controllers could be saying the same thing about some pilots . Also one pilot started this thread, not a bunch of pilots . |

Yeah, well I have a feeling you’re a spineless pushover in that case. How’s that?

Anybody else noticed this guy? Seems to work OGG approach but yesterday he was handling HCF high sector. Usually I find his antagonism entertaining but he was extra ****y/borderline hostile the last two days… “4th time I’m calling you Alaska” 😂
Just curious what you’ve seen! |

You should. I get incensed by grumpy and temperamental controllers. Who works for who? Is it my salary that pays their salary or their salary that pays mine?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m professional and appreciative of controllers but especially because of that, I get “touchy” when they turn into asshats. It’s the same thing as getting attitude from a server at a restaurant when you’ve been nothing but nice to them. i don't know how many times i point that out to my co-hero and it takes a few seconds to ponder before they understand. Working together makes everyone's day nicer, but fed's work FOR us, not the other way around. PHX has got some real freaking tools, and I mean controllers, leave the pilots alone one this one. :) More than once I've asked questions about whom to follow and was answered with quite snarky replies. Look junior, your request was not clear and once i asked I learned it was not accurate. But shouldn't the post have said, Who works for whom?:p:) C'mon man. |

Every ATC facility has a separate quality control oversight element. You can get the phone number and talk to these guys and have them do an investigation into it. They invite this sort of stuff to keep their operations running well, you also sometimes learn stuff that you didn't know. In some situations, there is some controller discretion, in others there is not. There are trainee controllers and some of them "don't make it" past the trainee phase, not to mention correcting seasoned controllers and getting back to "standardized".
