So not helping can result in a lawsuit too. Or impatience. Can’t comment on the actual facts. But this certainly was preventable.

"The lawsuit claims Southwest should have warned the woman about dangerous conditions on the jet bridge and provided proper training to employees for helping passengers with wheelchairs."

G2 provides the training, carries the liability, has the insurance. Not the pilots.

I ride around a lot on other carriers. No one has more wheel chairs than sw. It's almost 10 fold. Idk why but sw has so many more wheel chairs

I'm sure it's because of the lack of assigned seating. Fake a disability and you get to pre-board, and get your pick of seats ahead of the crowd without buying an upgraded position. Every flight I see several wheelchair attendants leaving with empty chairs after the flight unloads, as these passengers that needed wheelchairs to get down the jetway are somehow able to walk back up completely unassisted at the end of the flight. It's a jetway miracle!

It’s this for sure.

Outsider take-

Don't we take on enough liability and career risks as pilots without volunteering for jobs we are not trained or insured to do? Maybe we should have the FAs help out up front while we push wheelchairs around- maybe they can get the APU up and running and bussed up and get the packs configured for the passengers. Let's all just do each other's jobs! What could go wrong!

Don't throw bags. Don't push chairs. Protect your careers.

Amen. Not to mention it degrades our profession. You ever see a KLM of Emirates skipper pushing wheelchairs?

I was hired to fly the plane, not to put my livelihood at risk by a potential lawsuit at a company I know won’t back me up in that event.

Faulty thinking. It’s immature 🙄. You do you and let the rest of us do us.

I stopped pushing chairs and doing anything extra after my WARN notice.
