Default MAX 7?

Hi all!!! I have a question regarding the 737 MAX 7 and it’s potential future with Southwest. I have seen that Boeing has built several it looks like, some I have seen pictures of in the SWA livery! But when I look at these airplanes on flight tracking sites, it looks like they are either flying only once every couple months, if at all. I’m sure they run the engines just to keep them in running condition, but what is the future of this airplane, and what does it look like for SWA? As they phase out the -700, MAX 8’s seem to be filling the spots, but for shorter routes, and routes with lower passenger demand, will Southwest EVER take delivery of the MAX 7? If someone could also fill me in on what exactly the delay is? I’m very curious to know and learn!

Thanks everyone!

the airplane isn’t even certified yet, would be hard to take delivery of them

The FAA hasn't certified it yet, simple as that. SWA would have taken delivery years ago if it could have.

This was from last November: https://www.reuters.com/business/aer...ar-2022-11-17/

Max 7 is delayed again… this time due to the airframe supplier assembling them incorrectly.

The last set of delays, SWA bought the 737s back that they sold to United during covid, minus the engines… not sure what they’ll do this time.

Alexandre,

According to this article from Mar of this year, they may be coming in the first part of 2024. Don't know how much or if the Spirit Aerosystems delay issue will impact that timeline.
