Five years ago they paid guys to leave. Then within two years they had to lower minimums to get people here. Change can happen very quickly. Their are no tea leaves in this business. Most of the time, the change that does come, nobody saw it coming. Commuting as capt vs an FO in base is tough call.

Personally, I'd stay in the left seat. Aside from discussing what would happen if we potentially merged with someone, your sick leave is worth way more, your LTD is worth a lot more, your work day is worth a lot more, and if you're getting displaced out of ATL, I doubt you'll get displaced into OAK.

To me, no brainer.

Your own list doesn't get reordered during an SLI and neither does the other one. You're going to be junior to every SWA pilot you are currently junior to and senior to every SWA pilot you are currently senior to after any hypothetical SLI. The only difference it makes is in your paycheck while it all gets sorted out. However it gets arbitrated out the other items you mentioned get considered (think longevity though vs DOH) in some portion. If you were to merge with another carrier with WB you could probably expect to see those fenced off in most if not all cases for a while.

Not only that, we've also got Bob selling airplanes, stock buybacks, and a fat dividend paid on a barely profitable company. Let's not forget about the cherry on top, $10M of bonuses split between 6 C suite executives. Think about that the next time you are tempted to do any favors. This company lost my goodwill for the rest of my career here the moment they raided my profit sharing to pay exec bonuses after the biggest meltdown in airline history was caused by their incompetence.
I am sad there wasn't a rally only because I would have loved to see them try to announce that profit sharing number with a straight face.

BJ is giving himself almost 4.1 million as a bonus. What a kick in the nuts to all the employees at WN

They tell us in ops day how bad it would be to put an airplane in the dirt, how bad it would be for our families, the company etc. “it would cost a billion dollars.”

Well, I seem to remember that’s almost what the Great Meltdown cost the company (not caused by pilots) and the top clowns not only got bonuses, but promotions.

All of this and the rest of the recent posts. I hope no one is ever tempted to give them relief on much of anything.

Can’t wait to find out what this Side Letter 2 is that they’ll be discussing at the BOD meeting.

BJ didn't give himself a bonus. The BOD did. Same BOD that EM decided to change. Firing GK was suppose to be the awakening. Same as it ever was. That kind of management will always be compensated well. No matter who you fire, no matter how many senior executives change, they will be compensated. Since 90% of his compensation is in stock grants, I could care less. Good for him. Maybe next year he gets more. This is no different than ground ops telling FA's they get paid too much, FA's telling pilots that they get paid too much. The circle continues. They only people that should be angry are the owners of the company. To be honest, they are getting paid too. Another dividend with a ASR worth $750 million of the $2.5 Billion that is authorized. The amount of stock granted vs what they will buy back is not even close. From the outside looking in, the shareholder(institutional investor)wins. Profit sharing will go no where for quite a some time. This time next year we will have the same conversation. Just as we did last year.

Looks like boob and Andy are visiting swapull to discuss what concession swapull will gleefully hand over.

BJ and AW going to a SWAPA BOD meeting isn't all that unusual. To say that it's a concession is premature. Not all side letters are created equal. It could be other initiatives that the company is planning or discussing that they need SWAPA in on that is not covered in the CBA. It could be something as simple as international partnership that is not the list. Remember, theirs about 50 of them that don't need SWAPA's input. You could be right though, it maybe as simple as relief in the CBA but fact that the two highest executives that run the airline are meeting with them seems to me that relief on logistical small stuff is not why they are their. We'll see.

SWAPA started giving to the company with SL1. It surely wouldn't be a surprise that they would try to keep on giving with SL2.
