Bottom line SWA is not merging with anybody, anytime soon. UAL and Delta have the highest margins in the business. All organic. They don't need anything from any other carrier. Like it or not, SWA is in a transition. Investing Billions in it. You don't do that and then pivit to buy an airline. Jetblue said they are looking for partnerships(think alliance). Not a merger or acquistion. Since SWA is forbidden to do domestic code shares, they would have to get permission from SWAPA. Maybe they have discussed it with SWAPA, hence why the rumor of NDA's, but the more management peels the onion, the more they have to rely on SWAPA for it to be executed, it's unlikely. Management doing their due diligence. Which is a good thing. Eitherway, something like that may require a vote. That would be a huge undertaking.

And both have doubled in size organically since. Southwest is 50% bigger than when it merged.

United made sure their investors had nothing to be concerned about at the moment. Meanwhile, SWA has said nothing about the rumors that have been circulating for two weeks regarding potential M&A activity with JetBlue, Breeze or even Delta.

That's some funny shyte. There is no chance Southwest is merging with Delta. Pa' da kouchie mon.

Dude.... way to pour cold water on drama queens.

At the same time, what you say makes sense. What Dallas does usually doesn't.

15 years ago. Growth above and beyond that which results directly from mergers is 'organic'. Otherwise anything since Huff Daland Dusters and Varney would be inorganic.

Stay in your lane pale. SWA is right where they want to be. They are laser focused.

I am just hoping the top 5 will hit 40 million in bonuses this year. They sure deserve it with the vision and hard work they put in .

The rest will be lucky to get 1.3 percent PS.

I’m very curious why they are accelerating $750m in buybacks to this quarter. Something is up..

There is a lot going on that is clearly designed to be on the "not quite making the news" level. It is pretty evident that the Elliot group and their new board picks are not letting the C Suite coast on by like they have in the past. If I worked in a cubicle in Dallas, I would be very very nervous.

When does the Elliot peace treaty expire? Next Spring? The SWA board has agreed to buy back $2.5B of stock in a company that barely eeks out a profit. Selling assets to free up cash to buy stock is exactly the kind of thing you do when you have a situation like that. They are hoping to have a splashy product reveal with big revenue enhancement numbers this fall. Couple that with cost cutting and the stock price goes up enough to allow Elliot to exit gracefully with only a small piece of meat hanging from its mouth.

If that plan fails, all bets are off and they know it.
