Default Thanks everyone

To be clear I’m ecstatic to be starting in December and obviously take whatever is available and make it work. I’m also aware that historically it takes years to arrive at your destination. Not my first go at this career. Grateful for any and all info. I’m gathering it’s a bit of a guess for everyone. Look forward to flying with you all

Most of the displaced pilots at swa are west coast domiciled based on the east coast. As they move west they will create secondary vacancies in Bwi & Mco regardless where the company creates vacancies for new hires. Expect to be based east for at least a month.

For all the new hires, congratulations and welcome to SWA!

That said when you get to training and are looking at choosing a health plan I highly HIGHLY recommend looking into the Regular Plan.

The new base isn’t a rumor both Company and SWAPA have confirmed there is a new base coming soon. Grant put it out in the townhall a week or two back. He said it will be a short notice base opening as well.

My bet is announcement this month followed by opening target date of March, 2026.

Yeah apologies. To be clear, I meant the rumor was about the location. A new base opening right now is just going to displace pilots from other bases as well as dilute seniority. It isn't good news unless you happen to be one of the few pilots that lives wherever it opens. People love to talk about new bases like they are a good thing. They can be if they happen like BNA. Right now we aren't growing and that means displacements. Hiring and upgrades will help cushion this, but we already have a birds nest of displacements around the system that need to be unwound.

350 new hires in Q1 2026 with more to come the rest of the year sounds like growth to me.

I'll believe it when they are on property.

A lot of those hires are for attrition.

also just because they are hiring 300 in Q1 doesn't mean they will be online and available to staff a new base Q1.
If they do indeed opn a base in March we may see some displacements until they can get enough online to staff it etc.
