My A30s lasted maybe two transcons and I was like nope, can't do the clamping force for that long . Got the Clarity Aloft Pros and never looked back. Unless you're in one of the old NGs without the nose mounted vortex generators (ie loud AF), the Claritys do just great keeping things quiet.

Definitely wait until you get here so you can get the $1,000 reimbursement. The rule is they will reimburse you one time up to $1,000. Spend $1,100 and you will get paid $1,000. Spend $900 and you will get paid $900.
I’m a ProFlight 2 user and love it, but the best advice was already given above: go with what works best for you. The 737 uses the same standard 2-prong jacks found in General Aviation. |

Clamping force? A30’s barely have any.

It's the weight, really. I fly a lot of GA and Bose is perfect for that. But when I'm doing 14 block in 2 days on the Guppy, I can't stand wearing traditional ANR headsets. Maybe that's just me...
I have a DC one X and it feels a lot better for me and my enormous plantoid head. The sound isn't as good as Bose, but it's close enough. |
Congrats on joining SWA!
You'll get lots of opinions here. Everybody has different things they like. I can't stand sweaty ear cups and weight on my head, so I use and really like my Clarity Aloft. Other guys hate things in their ears, so they prefer the over-the-ear types. Nobody -- ok, almost nobody -- prefers the Telex headsets. Their noise reduction is very minimal, and our cockpit is loud. I had to use a Telex 850 on a couple of trips while my Clarity Aloft was getting repaired, and I'll call in sick before I ever do it again. Whatever headset you pick, just please turn off your interphone switch when you aren't talking. Ours is a fully manual system (no VOX) -- turn it on, and it'll amplify everything going in and coming out of your mouth until you turn it back off. Unless you're wearing a Telex, and then only the other guy will hear it because all you hear is wind noise. :D |

This honestly should be part of the test to work here. So many CAs, and I imagine FOs, leave that thing on while sucking down their food, or press the mic so close to their nose/mouth that every breath sound is heard.

Yep, as demonstrated in the Living the Dream series. I swear, every single scene in those videos are absolutely true! The United guy that created those deserves an award.
