There are guys in my class holding BWI and DAL (I am around 150 from the bottom of the master seniority list). There was a huge shuffle last year. BWI, MDW, HOU, and DAL all went junior at some point about 6 months after classes began.
Orlando is out of the question for at least 5 years right now due to AirTran integration. If ATL opens up more or another east coast base opens it may change. I don't see any of that happening any time soon though.
So....
Dallas and BWI within six months as long as hiring continues and the normal summer migration takes place.
MCO....long wait.

The above is a complete guess based on last year.

I filled out the app, it was just a few pages with a resume upload but no flight-time data entry. I thought they used GPC? Does that come later?

The Southwest.com/careers website is just basic info and to upload a résumé. You will then get an email if you meet mins to complete a PilotCredentials.com application, that has much more info including flight time breakdown. If you already have a SWA pilotcredentials app on file you can just update it, you don't need a new one. You must complete both the SWA AND PilotCredentials apps to be considered. If you previously applied on the SWA website during a previous window, you must apply again during this window.

I disagree with respect to MCO. More on that on a minute.

A few pages back I posted on the likelihood of new hires moving east. This year I expect that swa will have 9 classes of 28 (252 new hires) with 2 classes a month which jives with previous class sizes/timelines, and stated hiring plan.

Here's a breakdown of each domicile starting with most junior and the distance from the bottom of the most junior pilot that holds that base.

Oak 0. Phx 30. Las 33. Mdw 38. Hou 86. Bwi 107. Dal 108. Den 353. Mco 552*. Atl 1963*.

Divide the numbers above by 28 and that's the number of classes you need under you to hold each domicile. If swa runs 2 classes a month this year it won't take long for a new hire to hold all but the 3 most senior bases. Last year swa typically ran 1 NH class and 1 AT a month. Since it will be all new hires this year I expect a new hire to get to Dal or Bwi in 3 months instead of the 6 that it took last year.

If a new hire stays in oak, phx, or las, they will likely be off reserve in 3-4 months.

Mco and Atl have the * because there are another couple hundred former air tran guys that can't hold Mco and over one thousand that can't hold ATL.

There is still some growth forecast at Atl (and hopefully Mco also) before the new hires come online later this year. Based on the last few vacancy bids, stated hiring for the next 2 years, and the numbers above I think a guy in the first new hire class this year will be able to hold Mco in 2 years tops and probably Atl in 5. All subject to change of course.

Cheers

Just out of curiosity, why is ATL so senior?

Atl is the smallest swa base and is/was the biggest Air Tran base.

Ok, thanks. I'm sure I meet the mins , does it take some time for them to send the email referring you to pilot credentials? I got a generic "we received your app" email...

Expect more from FedEx. Just sayin'. I get calls from guys about once a month asking "do you think I am crazy if…."

Ah, so basically there are a ton of Air Tran guys who live there and want to stay, and very few slots post-merger... Makes sense. Thanks.
