the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

Never claimed to perfect FTL. I fall victim to the same human failures that afflict many. In my case, I feel that I am able to recognize those failures with at least SOME moral code. Others don't recognize their decisions as anything but relative. Anything and everything they do is for selfish reasons. If their actions have a negative effect on others........it never enters their minds. One only needs to listen to some of the conversations I have had with my fellow pilots. I walk away thinking "why did they tell me that?" I guess I don't understand why someone would brag about doing something illegal or something that might get them killed by someone else's spouse. I just don't get it.

The (not so perfect) Oscar

Just curious FTL. I don't believe I have demonized anyone for their vote. Can you please point to a pot meet kettle moment.

Oscar might be a demon? Nice...... As I said before, I sleep well at night knowing that someone's husband or the police won't be knocking on my door. I will stay on APC to point out hypocrisy by all including myself if need be.

Fair enough, but this is an airline pilot forum so I am not sure why such things would be germane especially when the subject is a TA.

But you pique our curiosity nonetheless!

Pray tell..........

Dude, it's a joke. You were supposed to grin a little bit. I'm a FAT, and I (or a RSWer) can point out that a
disproportionate number of the fine ATL folks voted to accept the abortion. Doesn't mean I'm demonizing anyone, whatever that means.

You are seriously no fun whatsoever.

Well FTL, I will tell you why it is germane. Frankly their are folks who want me to trust their opinion on this failed TA. "Vote like a regional pilot" they have said. Or use demeaning descriptions of their fellow pilots, questioning their judgement and abilities to reason. Even going in some instances to the level of questioning their qualifications because they came from the military. I am at a point where I trust but verify everything. If they display a level of morality that makes me question them, then I probably won't trust them to influence my opinion. That goes for all backgrounds and experience.

The Oscar

BTW I was leaning NO for quite awhile. Then a few know-it-alls opened their mouths and I began to reconsider. My thought process was in the end there was too much risk. Let's now see if the gamble succeeds.

I call BS. Sorry I had to laugh at that for a quick second. Okay I'm good now.

I voted No because the retirement didn't meet my expectations. If both a Delta pilot and a SW pilot have an identical pay rate the Delta pilot's take home is 10% greater because they don't need to invest 10% of their take home in their retirement plan (unless they want to). That said, I fully expect that the next TA won't happen until summer 2016 at the earliest and if the economy has taken a dive by that point we will be lucky if it is "flattish". So while I believe in standing up for yourself, I am also a realist. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself even when you realize it's probably going to cost you in the end. I personally believe the next TA will be a shadow of what this one was with any improvements weighted towards the seniormost pilots.

Then it will fail.
