Default Favorite headset?

Joining the team in the next week. I've been using a Telex 850 in the CRJ for the last 9 years and it's great there. I've seen a lot of SWA guys using Bose. Is this the best option for the 737?

Thanks in advance!

The Company issues the Telex 850. Doesn't give you much protection IMO. Some use the UFlyMike setup.

I have been using the A20 since it came out. SWAPA has a rebate program with Bose for it. If you are considering it, I would wait until you are here.

There are two rebates:
A20 with Bluetooth - $150.00
A20 without Bluetooth - $125.00

The info is on SWAPA's website. Probably they will tell you about when you show up.

Welcome aboard.

The airplane is surprisingly noisy. (Mostly due to the recirc fans more than anything else)

The company's Telex 850s just don't do the trick. A lot of people opt for the Bose and the Dave Clark ANR options but for me, having something on my head all day long is just exhausting. I use the Clarity Aloft headset. They aren't ANR but rather a soft earplug with an integrated speaker. It's more than enough to quiet the cockpit and at just a few ounces it doesn't add to your fatigue having something on your head all day. Good luck with the new gig!

Uflymike all the way. Half the cost of the A20, it's lighter, and you get a nice standard headset that you can use without the mic in the back of the airplane dead heading/commuting or wherever else you want a nice set of earphones.

I'm a newbie and use Bose A20's. My only gripe is that I didn't get them much sooner.

The best headset option is the one that works best for you. Don't listen to the loudmouth know-it-all sitting to your left. Everyone's melon is different. Try out several (almost all reputable mfrs will give you a free trial period) before pulling the trigger. I'm a Clarity Aloft guy, FWIW.

I agree do what works best for you. I prefer the company issued telex 850. Very light and comfortable. Performs just fine if you ask me. Bose seems to be the most popular choice. Yes its a quieter headset but its heavier and feels like a clamp in comparison. make sure you label the headset with your name and phone number. You are responsible for a lost headset at the tune of $360

DC One-X. Whatever you do get something other than the company issue. I was always straining to hear with the Telex and that's tiring over time. With my current noise cancelling set, I feel better at the end of the day/trip. It's noticeably less fatiguing (for me anyway).
