Company Award to expelled Pilot
So the company is about to give an award to a LAS FO (JL), that was expelled from ALPA for non payment of dues! The other Pilot that shares this dubious status of delinquency is the CP of DFW. Obviously, the DFW CP hasn't been expelled yet, partly because JA (everyone's favorite former MEC Chair) worked out a payment program for him. Unfortunately, he's now delinquent on that also!!!
In other news, the Environmental Committee Chair is the other recipient of an award from the company - something that he's very happy about and has no intention of declining! Before you attack, these are factual assertions, not opinions or rumors! |

"The best hair cut from a 1990s Indigo Girls concert goes to...JS" One award for something like "Pilot of the year" is going to ET, our Environmental Standards Committee Chairman. I would argue he is the main reason why the company has/is doing anything about our fume events. His work is much appreciated. People were wondering if he would accept the award or refuse to attend. I guess he is attending and accepting. If it were me, I would not attend, out of solidarity I could not attend a circle jerk company event. Its his decision and in no way does it change how I feel about the work he has done on behalf of the pilot group. Now....TS, the DFW CP never paid ALPA dues at Eagle. And I heard he was on a payment plan with ALPA. If he has stopped making payments, he needs to be expelled off the seniority list. Pretty simple it seems like |

Pretty simple it seems like Im shocked the pilot of the year award didn't go to the Eastern scab we hired from Miami Air, who needed double the amount of IOE that would get any other person fired from training. |

But he absolutely cannot stand the idea of a non-dues paying <*redacted to keep mods happy*> also receiving the award. As far as leaving for greener pastures, ET is here for life. Until the Legacies drop the degree requirement, he's not going anywhere. If there is ANY one pilot here that deserves this award, it's certainly him. He's done a lot behind the scenes that 99% of the group won't hear about. Hell, we still have Captains here who think this whole "fume event" thing is all made-up hogwash; one even told me, and I quote, "It's not fumes! It's just a little oil getting into the packs!" Congrats ET. |

I'm the first officer receiving this award.
please fact check a little before making possible damaging comments fellow airmen. First: I'm receiving an award for playing my ukulele for pax during a gate delay. We should always take care of our pax. This has nothing to do with company or union issues. Second: the dues I owe amount to $60 and are from a previous airline. The situation is a misunderstanding and is being rectified. I have paid 100% of my spirit union dues! So again fact check before you start your rants boys. |

We're never going to get a contract. RK |

What is a ukalayle(sp)?
|
Do you have to play (use) this 'youkelele' instrument at this awards event?

Great you take care of the pax, going to that event, at this point, is junk. Plain and simple. |

My side hurts! LMFAO! I would ask to go into the witness protection program if I was the FO. Sorry Bro it's just really strange you felt the need to break out your instrument in front of the passengers!! LOL

It's still possible......

How much money do you want to bet that he does not even wear the green lanyard but a company issued lanyard? FB pics prove it.

There is no doubt in my mind that those who don't wear the lanyard will cross the picket line when the time comes. It's a mindset that few of us will ever understand. When I see the company lanyard I see a future SCAB. To be honest I'll be glad when don't have to wear the hideous things someday but for now I proudly support what it stands for and that's unity. You won't see these turds passing up the pay raise when it comes their way.

I'm not worried too much about SCABS crossing the line of we strike. We had ZERO guys cross in 2010 and I think somebody would have to be absolutely out of their friggin mind to try it. Considering some of the psychopaths we have flying jets here I would be afraid every time I started my car.

Of course this is merely my opinion. I also think at this point in the negotiations it's not merely a passive act to not wear the lanyard but a statement to the contrary of what they stand for. Yeah it's total group think herd mentality which I normally abhor but that's sort of the whole point of a union I suppose. In my vast experience I think, anyway |
First of all, I seriously doubt that this guy got expelled over $60 owed from his days at Mesa. Even if you changed your address several times since then, your base would be known and you would be reachable through the ALPA mechanisms that exist here at Spirit. This one doesn't pass the smell test!
Secondly, given the state of Pilot-management relations that exist here presently, I think that it's poor taste for ET to accept (sorry ET, I know you deserve credit for your hard work, but seriously?). Maybe ALPA can arrange something to recognize his efforts. This is bad judgement on your part. Both of these guys need to consider the optic and how management will hold you up as examples of good relations, while they stick to the group as a whole. |
Or, they could use this platform to make a statement in front of all the yuckety yucks as to how you are but a tiny sampling of the hardworking, professional pilot group here that deserves an industry standard contract. Throw it back in their face and watch them squirm.
