That's a sweet post YURI! I'm sure the BOD loves cancelled flights. The more the better in fact is what they're saying! Sorry it will cost you your job. The "my situation is different" ship has sailed when you countered with your embarrassing offer. #summermeltdown

You have bigger things to worry about than open time.

It is working to an extent and it would work better if people like you didn't pick up and save the company. Hope this places melts down this summer, I'll enjoy those days off when they can't find pilots or crews.

Is that the same justification we will see when you cross the picket line?

No Spirit seniority list pilot is going to cross the picket line when we strike, regardless of how much gravy they choke now. Even the ones who choked gravy with First Officers on furlough and downgraded Captains sitting in the right seat did not cross in 2010.

Returning from an extended, denied disability medical leave brought on by an incompetent AME and an FAA utterly disinterested in allowing me to fly again. I'm only coming back so i can make enough to pay my bills so no worries about me picking anything up but it would be nice if I could do something to mitigate the MOAB-level destruction inflicted on my financial life since I began my forced "vacation". I'll just have to wait until I get current and hired somewhere else to do that.

You called aeromedical and they were no help too? For me they've been worth every penny of union dues.

I did and if it wasn't for the help of one very driven individual I'd likely still be looking at another 6+ months out even though I was fit to fly over a year ago. I've been out of the loop since I went out and was hoping I'd soon be able to recoup at least part of what this whole F'ed up misadventure has cost me but after reading all this I realize I won't be able to unless/until I leave Spirit.

All the reason why we need a new contract fast.

Qotsaautopilot 04-26-2017 02:46 AM

I said before that being on long term disability and returning was probably the only exception. Even medical bills are not an excuse if you kept your job because our insurance would've caused only a small hardship easily recoverable. Being on LTD and our LTD is the industry worst if you're out for more than 24 months.

Do LTD benefits drop after 24 months?

YourMom 04-26-2017 07:54 AM

Why is it the ones holding the line, calling out names here, and not picking up JAs have sugar mommas at home or get 92 hours of union time a month.

I'm a single dad trying to make ends meet and taking under gurantee some months just to spite people like you. It feels great and I sleep really well at night enjoying my time off. Also every time I hit ignore on my phone there's a chance he company has to cancel a flight and lose tens of thousands of dollars. So next theory please

I give you props for single Dad in this field. It is no easy task. But in reality you are not holding the line you drop under 72 to be home because it is tough to schedule daycare. So even at 70 hours average assuming 4th yr CA you are grossing $110,000 a year. Hardly struggling with money compared to first year FO grossing at 72 $33264 and they have families too.

I agree completely that first year FOs are in a much different position but I could certainly benefit from 100 hours a month as much as anyone, instead I'll do my part and sleep well at night saying I tried.
Also I have to pay for day care regardless of whether I work or not. I wish it was only pay for what you use but that's a rant for another day.

Sole bread winner here. And I'm on FO pay. I pay huge medical bills for the grandparents as well. If I can hold the line, then others can too.

Excuses.... (first year FOs get a pass)

ovrtake92 04-26-2017 08:30 AM

Also, yourmom, I don't know if you are management or just an apologist for greed but nobody here is content making 50 percent of our peers. The allure of what I'll now refer to as 100 percent pay or JAs is dwindling as the light at the end of the tunnel emerges for a new contract. 230 dollars an hour straight pay sounds mighty good and every JA I turn down gets us one little step closer. So if you are one of us, get onboard and let's all do whatever it takes to make this happen.

Wow... you can call someone all sorts of names for being a "gravy choker," "company pawn," etc. But accidentally assume gender...

What an age we live in.

Odds are the he/she thing is a troll as well... carry on.

No she is definitely Jurinal. He's halfway through his transition. Got bottom surgery first years ago not by choice.
Thus would explain a lot about coming to America with nothing!!

Guess I didn't fully understand when Jyri told me he "took a major cut when coming to Spirit."

Yeah I don't fall into this category either. No sugar momma ( my wife does work but as sad as it is I'm the breadwinner) nor do I get 92 hours. Instead I'm on reserve not working anymore than I have too. Still trying to pay off thousands of dollars of debt from being on our super awesome ltd where this company you seem to love doesn't pay you anything for 3 months.

Yep, YourMom just earned his/ her/ it's place on the ignore list. Life is much better absent trolls and management apologists.

The real Mike O 05-02-2017 06:56 AM

One JRM trip per month...and a pretty good one, say 22.5 (x2= 45) for the entire year does not equal straight industry pay at 72 hours a month.

160 x 72 = 11,520
160 x 94.5 = 15,120

**** OR ****

240 x 72 = 17,280 (207,360/yearly)

And we have morons lined up around the block to help out...look beyond the tip of your nose. I've heard Kiwi say that Spirit trips over a dollar to save a nickel. Same thing applies now--some pilots (debatable title) are literally being tripped up by a few dollars but to prevent more dollars coming to them.

It's like someone who would rather have a piece of chocolate now that $200 in a month...messed up way of thinking

Qotsaautopilot 05-02-2017 07:38 AM

You lost me at kiwi. Litterally the biggest gravy choker at spirit. Will jumpseat all the was to LAS just to get in to choking position.

I find it sad that the chockers have gotten themselves into this financial position in life where they have to go to extremes to make the money or default on their car payments or mortgage. I'm not talking about everyone, just the major offenders. We know who you are.

I think one of the points MikeO was making in his (very accurate) post, was to point out the hypocrisy in the Choker logic.

It's telling to hear of someone who criticizes the long term outlooks of others, but then applies the same false logic to themselves.

Check out the jrm report for April 16th. About half way down is the one man army guy. 2 in April and 3 for the year.

vandypilot 05-02-2017 03:47 PM

Unfortunately there are other ways to get paid the same as JRM. Seeing the junior man log is not showing how the really good chokers are making more go happen. FYI the FLL
A -Team is in full force tonight. I noticed a few of the typical SA listers going in the crew room. Thanks guys!

Man there is one on the very first page on April 16th that says they have 4 JRMs for the year. What the hell.

I saw that. I was just referring to the guy in the middle. I think he's the same guy that was spreading that one man army story by the AA pilot.
