another week of nothing
 
so no more progress on a new fair contract. why aren't we picketing at the airport alpla? why no buying ad space in wsj to show our despair?
why no billboards rented? why are you sitting on your hands alpa? what good are you alpa, you're as useless as pond scum alpa>>>>>>>WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH OUR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR YOU STEAL FROM US ALPA????

How you make money aft of the door is up to you but in front of the door it's an industry standard pilot that comes at an industry standard compensation safely flying our customers like professionals. You want to continue to attract kids with no experience like some trolling the hiring thread? That's going to bite you one day, I just hope I'm not deadheading in the back

Unfortunately I think with this management group, a strike is the only way. I wonder how bad the slap was this time!

Maybe if Bob announces a few more negotiation dates it will further show the companies commitment to getting this done and give me that warm and fuzzy inside and remind me to do my part......

since we are compensated like discount pilots, how we pay discounted dues to alpa.....i say take it down to .1% from 1.95%

None of what we want will happen, at least not for awhile. The MEC has already stated they don't want to upset the mediator and given the currrent administration, a mediator is not going to jeopardize their position by releasing us.

You have 2 choices:
1. Leave
2. Be patient..

I think the "be patient" train left the station a few months ago. We're all allowed to be upset and disappointed at this point. I for one would like to see what managements proposal was, but I'm sure that's never going to happen.

There's nothing to see. They offered raises to keep us in the bottom tier. That's enough details for me. I don't want to see anything that's not ratifiable and ratifiable is industry standard. We've asked for that and that's what's being negotiated. Management is proposing ultra low cost pilot. If that's what you want I think Allegiant and Frontier are hiring.

Allegiant got raises and retirement to place them right back at the bottom of this round of bargaining which is probably the best negotiating climate in most all of our careers. You either get it now or get it never. They cemented themselves at the bottom. That's not going to change in the next cycle. They start doing multi-day trips and that place is going to empty out.

Frontier is in a bankruptcy contract and they will have to go on strike to get a dime from Franke.

We are not these airlines and if this is going to be a career destination we need to negotiate a career contract and that's what the negotiating comittee is asking for. If we want a stepping stone contract we need to go work at a stepping stone. Most of us want to make this a career.

Btw we could have an industry leading contract and still crush the legacies in profit margins.

I am encouraged that additional bargaining dates weren't added. Hopefully that means if an agreement cannot be reached in the next 3 bargaining rounds (weeks, whatever you want to call them), the NMB might take it to the next level. And, that'll be 1 year in mediation by the end of August....

unfortunately the anti labor national mediation board considers 1 year to be a starting point. there is a long way to go before the nmb will issue a release. think of the one year point as the first trimester of human gestation, you still have two more trimesters to go, eg 2 years.......

'don't want to upset the mediator'----that says it all......if alpa was a relationship therapist instead of a useless 'labor' organization, they would advise a woman who is getting beat by her boyfriend to not make him upset so he doesn't beat you more.

i hate to break it to you, but nmb will continue negotiations for 1 to 2 years before a release is granted. at the point, a merger will be announced and the negotiations will continue for years more. at least that $30/month assessment will get used.

it's genius actually and will be studied in colleges for years to come on how to squeeze the most out of your employees...

Haha. That's funny because it's true.

But in all seriousness, under the RLA, we are at the mercy of the NMB. That's just the way it is. I don't think it is any secret that the company intends to drag this to the 11th hour. I seriously doubt the Mediator is going to let the company slide 'bottom of the industry' proposals across the table for the next year or two. But who knows... they are the only ones who can designate the 11th hour.

I would like to see some picketing and a strike vote though. I hope that those plans are being made.

Look at allegiant pay scale and work rules. Im sure that will give you a pretty good idea. Hopefully the mediator told them to come back to the next session with more realistic proposals.

Yup, the figure heads here need to realize that in order to keep the ship from sinking you must fix the problem before it's under water. I'm afraid they don't care about the future of the company and they only want to make every dime they can for themselves today. Do you think bob gives a care if this place is underwater in 2 years? No because he has made his money, is ready to retire and would sink this airline for another 458 spider in his garage. Spirit can be an amazing company with tons of growth and profits in the future but we need a visionary who wants to build an empire driving the ship, not a washed up CEO who wants to make his last big check at the expense of the corporation. hell we could have the SWA CEO for 1.2M less , it's time to do what is best for Spirit and it's future, not the few executive staff members who use this as their personal bank account. Pay the staff and they will save you, don't pay the staff and you are gambling something that will ultimately lose in a very sort time frame.

This place will never be anything other than what it is now. Maybe a few more planes, but the mentality will stay the same. Mom and pop operation that can't get out of it's own way. Trip over millions of dollars to save a nickel. Underpaid and undertrained personnel in every aspect of the operation.
You may be optimistic thinking things will change here, but I can assure you that places with ineffective leadership don't change. 5-10 years from now if you are still here, you will look back and suddenly realized you are waiting for something great to happen only for it to dawn on you that you just wasted a decade of your life. I'm not going to be that person. Good luck.

At this time I do not believe the company's goal is to achieve a contract, but rather to delay it.

Two sessions, no TA'd sections, substandard proposals, a lot of lip service.
