This crap needs to stop
Am I the only person who is really ****ed about 45 + minute van rides to the airport and hotel because our stupid hotel committee sets us up in hotels that are 40 miles away. We're crew members on an overnight..... put us in the same damn state as the airport when we have a 5:30 show time. Hell at least give us the option of the short stay. FFS people if this ****es you off too , email your rep and tell them it's BS.

Unfortunatley a lot of our reps are in self preservation mode and not better the group mode. We have a few good ones but my experience in the aggregate has not been positive. And don't dare address a contract violation unless you want to be mocked and labeled a 'trouble maker'. But hey, at least we're paying $7 a beer in LAX while WN pays $1. |
Hotel commitee has the same problem as the scheduling commitee. The guy in charge has been in his position for far too long.
|
Would probably be helpful if u posted the city in which the van ride took forever. Also wouldn't this be more appropriate for your company talk board, meaning you would reach a more effective base with your fellow workers. Just a thought

You must not work here. Anyone at Spirit knows what hotels I'm talking about so that point really doesn't stand. I'm not sure if you noticed but I posted this in the SPIRIT sub forum..... what are you talking about dude? Are you lost?

I agree and have emailed the Hotel Committee numerous times. DTW is a tough market and finding a good place is hard but I'd much rather stay at our short stay than drive all the way out to Livonia. IAH and LAX there are no excuses. There's no reason we can't stay closer. It would be great if we could choose to stay at the short versus long. IAH is a sh!+ show eight ways to Sunday. Late vans, no vans, lying van drivers, long drive, bad traffic, etc. I bid around that city like the plague.

You aren't the exception. I like having something to do if I am stuck someplace for a long overnight. I really hope we don't change the LAX, IAH, or DFW longs. I don't mind the van ride either as long as we don't have a really early report the next day. Perhaps they could be changed on longs only if the report time in the AM is before say 8 or 9 AM.

I don't mind the lax, as those are usually 22+ hours. But IAH with a 14 hour overnight spending 1-2 hours on the road stinks. And usually ungodly early in the am. There are much better options for that one.

What? You don't like the 0430 pick ups for Long Beach Hilton? I have to agree I'd rather stay up near LAX. I like my sleep!
|
Careful what you wish for in LAX. We stay by the water, whereas many crews stay in Downtown LA. And trust me, the last thing we need is another Downtown overnight. Give me some scenery and a place to walk around without traffic and crowds. (Seattle long, I'm looking at you.)
|
Long Beach & Denver (long) are two of my top five faves!! Does it suck getting up early, yes.... BUT, I'd rather stay there, brew a cup of coffee for the early van ride, than stay near the airport. You want airport hotel overnights, go to a regional airline! I'm done with that ****.
I would prefer the Westin Long Beach over the Hilton, but, to each their own.... |
You mean 1600 dudes with type A personalities can't all agree on the same hotels? No way! Next you'll say some have different opinions on uniforms as well!!!!
|
Just my opinion, but I think Santa Monica would be a much better choice than Long Beach.
|
I just want out and backs, like Allegiant.

I think they should just allow you to choose the short stay as long as you request it say 48-72 hours in advance. Everyone wins

I really would be happy with an airport comfort inn with a fridge, microwave and continental breakfast. Yeee haw!

I say we just bump the threshold up to 16 hours for the long layover hotels. There really should be a distance and time limit though for transportation "local" in nature. Some of the hotel drives really should qualify for surface deadhead pay!

I'm underpaid $90k a year and y'all are worried about van rides? 😳

Any of you complaining should probably stay away for UA, AA and DL. You haven't seen a long van ride until you land in NRT and drive to Tokyo. Or PVG......I swear that airport is in another country. You haven't seen traffic until you land in CDG at 7am on a week day.

And what are you basing this on? I've worked over the phone with these guys on a few minor issues and they did a great job. If it wasn't for them or the contract language we have you wouldn't believe the sh*t holes we'd be in (the company recently tried).

This has to take the "idiot thread of the week" title. "Cost-Neutral" Bobby has some great hotels all lined up for you, right next to the airport, just off the interstate. Most begin with "La" and "Howard".
|
Take your thumb out of your mouth already. If you don't get enough rest, call CS and tell them you'll be pushing the van back so you can do so. Or pop out fatigued. But if you think I'm going back to Culver City because you don't like the drive to Long Beach you need your head examined. Don't like the hotels? Call the committee. There's a reason we're not yet in The Woodlands, they've got a widget on the tail. They're checking into Manhattan Beach options when the contract is up in LB. But if you'd get off the tough guy keyboard and call these guys you'd know that already...
|
The Marriot Manhattan Beach wasn't bad, but I prefer the Westin & Hilton Long Beach in that order....

I will say the standard has come up over the last couple of years and I for one am grateful for the job they are doing! Great job guys! |

So bring it up with the hotel committee. No need for you to whine on a public forum as it will accomplish nothing, well, except build the case that the majority are happy with the way the committee is performing their jobs. So, thanks for that. :p

Your right Einstein, what was I thinking.
I fixed it for you. |
I'd say 95% of the hotels at Frontier are on or near airport property with very limited, if any, good food options. Forget about doing anything fun on your layover unless you want to throw down with your crew mates on a Lyft.
We don't have long/short language in the contract like you do. Forgive the two cents from your fellow ULCC brethren but you seem to be doing pretty well in the hotel department. It's incredibly hard to please everyone. Oh and good luck in the contract fight, hopefully we'll all get the chance to walk the line together at some point in the near future. |
