A pilot who does not agree to a FDP extension must give a reason

I just reread that. That’s bogus. Doesn’t that specifically go against the FARs? At least they can’t deny your reason.

Read the bottom part of your release where you certify and add the phrase “I do not..”

Problem solved.

Boy, tough.

I love you new guys’ tough man answers like “sack up”, “we’re all adults”, etc. why don’t we just decertify and enter a direct relationship with our employer? Why is the onus now on us for things we were protected on?

Now I have to use fatigue to not extend. I have to do paperwork when I call in fatigued. How about I just don’t want to extend because I’ve got better things to do. Why do I feel like family obligations is not going to be an acceptable reason to not extend.

Fatigue calls should be used when fatigued.

So I’ll take the non cry baby approach.

Maybe they want a reason so that the safety department will use that information to help manage fatigue calls better by scheduling away from risk factor trends that they are seeing.

A fatigue risk management system is part of 117 and gathering information is part of that

No way, right? Decertify? You guys are the fools that want to run opposite from the advice of our MEC, NC, elected reps and ALPA national to think YOU know better and can get better.

Sounds like you are the ones wanting to decertify and form an in-house Union. You can call it “Life isn’t fair Union”

If you refuse an FDP extension, you don’t have to say fatigued. Language says you can give any reason.

“Fatigue” is for when you are unable to finish your original FDP, in which it would be fatigued. This is the fatigue policy, so it covers fatigue, not other factors.

I guess the point is, we’ve never had to give a reason. Just “no, I will not be extending”
