I'm former military pilot (F/A-18 and C-12) currently doing jet contract work with the DoD. I've got my ATP, Class 1, 5000+ hours, current and qualified, etc... I've got about 10 years left for commercial flying and would like to do it at a passenger airline.
If anyone can pass any info my way about Spirit, the hiring, the job, the lifestyle, etc.., I'd really appreciate anything you can pass my way.
Thanks

Former military here, I’m very happy with the lifestyle. Coming from the military, it’s a completely different and welcomed change of lifestyle. I know some guys that haven’t been able to make the transition and others who seamlessly slide right in. I have been impressed with the pilots since I’ve been here, nearly all would fit into any squadron I was in.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Regarding the job....some guys may disagree but I think most of us agree that the flying is pretty easy. I don't really ever feel overworked and get a good amount of days off. (average of 18/month for a relatively senior FO)
However, PBS is coming soon no idea how that will truly affect QOL. Most of us are assuming it won't be an improvement.
Lifestyle...there is the exception but it seem like most of us don't like to work. Large amounts of time off seems to be the goal for the pilot group. Other than that pretty easy flying, good hotels and everyone for the most part is pretty laid back.
In my opinion, if you're looking for a job with decent insurance where you can get a decent amount of time off, Spirit might work for you.
If you're looking for a big pay check, Southwest, Jetblue, or one of the other legacy is probably a better choice.
Also, living in one of our domiciles makes a huge difference on QOL.
