How do I list for a JS - does Spirit use MyIDTravel? Do all of your AC have 2 jumpseats?

Thanks Scoop

brokepilot2 05-27-2018 06:23 AM

I believe the last 6 or so 319s only have 1 as well. Can't remember if the "new to us" ones do.

Sounds Like I will need a code to Jump on spirit, does anyone know where I can find this info in out books/emails?

Super EZ E 11-15-2019 07:07 AM

We have a couple new A320's that we received from China and they have 2 jumpsuits. FYI

You guys need to contact your jumpseat committee for this information, please don't put it out on a public forum.

Ok, where have they hidden “OA Travel” this time? I’m on Spirit.com and I’ve scoured the entire main page. It’s probably staring right at me. Thanks in advance.

Great! Thank you.

ASAPsafetyGUY 11-29-2019 07:19 AM

TeamTravel.Spirit.com is the site. [Other Airlines]

You'll have to know what code your airline has. .....Check with your travel people.

RonnyK320 11-29-2019 07:48 AM

Please delete this post. It's a public forum, we don't need non airline guys trying to list on Spirit.

Thanks

Thanks

All the more reason to check IDs and medicals. But yeah these guys should be asking their jumpseat committees and not posting questions on an open forum.

By the way, nobody would be asking this if your company didn't do it differently than 99% of all other airlines.

You’re right we are different, we also provide the info if the JS is taken or not, or if other pilots are listed. You know, useful info that 99% of all other airlines don’t provide to offline pilots.

We also do things different like treat jumpseaters with respect, our gate agents dont ignore them until 10 prior to push, we find overhead bid space for them and most of our pilots will not push a plane if the gate agent wont list them.

If only legacy carriers (cough AA) cared as much for jumpseaters

Amen to this. Worst jumpseat experiences when I was commuting were all on AA. However, Cactus before the merge was the bomb!!!

LetACYDieFTW 12-04-2019 07:02 AM

100% AA JS process is the worst.

I wonder if their jumpseat committee is aware that they are the worst airline to jumpseat on by far, and do they care enough to promote improvements?

I just jumpedseated on AA yesterday. They had a yellow face on MyID. When I got there, it was a 319 with 70 open seats. I had the whole row (both sides) to myself. How does that make any sense?

Haha and I say there is a 50/50 chance they didn’t clear you until 10 prior.

I don’t know exactly how myidtravel works but I’ve noticed this with B6 also. Notice when you select “show details” there’s a bunch of letters followed by a number. I believe that 9+ gives the green, 1-8 gives the amber, and 0 is red. I think that B6 and AA can only show “7” or less after the letter; hence they always show as amber or red. I’ve had wide open B6 flights only show as amber also.

The StaffTraveler app is much better for checking loads.

AA will always be yellow. They don't ever give away their loads.

You can get a rough idea of seats on AA by trying to buy a ticket on said flight. Then it will have the seat map.

Depending on how far out it is, some of those seats might show available, but you also have to keep in mind that the Basic Economy ticket holders get seats assigned. Depending on how close it is to the flight, the number of seats showing might be off. Not 100% sure on that though.

They could have already assigned seats, internally, to the BE folks and what you see on the seat map is legit.

Either way you’ll get a fairly decent idea.

MCDUmanipulator 12-04-2019 02:26 PM

Or just use the staff traveler app and know exactly what the loads are.

I’ll have to give it another shot. I used it when they first launched and it wasn’t quite up to par. This was a couple years ago.

How do they get the loads so accurately?

When you check-in 24 hours prior for a Jetblue flight, you can see how many seats open and the standby list. MyIDTravel will show an amber face when it’s between 1 seat open to completely empty. Red face with zero seats.

It sends your request out to other users from that airline. You get a token or a coin if you answer the request and it costs a token/coin to ask. You can also buy tokens/coins from the app.

I did the same recently. HUGE improvement over what it was a few years ago when I quit using it. Members of staff traveler are all airline employees. Its user sourced info. For example, if you are an NK Employee you answer other peoples requests for load info about NK flights. You also get “credit” for that. So people at other airlines with login for their non rev systems do the same. You can then use those credits to request loads yourself. Otherwise its like 10 cents a load request if you want to buy “credits”

It's a great app. Usually I can get loads in under a minute during regular hours. Just answer some requests when you are bored on your overnights. I think I have around 210 credits or something. Really makes commuting a lot easier.

Agree! Incredible app! Hardly use passrider.com anymore

How does OAL priority for a NK jumpseat?

Looks like I can list online for the jumpseat 3 days in advance. Does that make first priority? Or is it at time of gate checkin, in which case the online listing procedure timing doesn’t help? I know for JetBlue it’s the first guy who checks in online exactly 24 hrs prior. Curious how NK does it.

Thank you

Checking in exactly 72 hours in advance is the earliest you can list for an NK jumpseat. That is what establishes your relative priority. As OAL you would be guaranteed ahead of any other OAL pilots, but NK pilots could still bump you even if they list after you.

For NK pilots its first to list but OAL jumpseaters its first to check in at the gate according to the FOM.

Only truth to this is that NK has priority. Listing time of OAL is meaningless; it's time of checkin at the gate that established OAL priority on the list

Show me a gate agent that’s read the FOM. Show me the percentage of captains that know this and/or care enough to enforce it.

You think that’s what his post is about? If our agent or CA is following the FOM? He’s just pointing out where the info of the priority came from. He’s right. It’s based in which offline pilot checks at the gate first. That’s because Spirit no longer allow offline pilots to check in online, and the system doesn’t allow it unlike Spirit employees who can check in online. It’s in the FOM to clear up and confusion when it comes to jumpseat priority.
