Will spirit even look at me without a degree? I have 500hrs in an ERJ175 and will have 1000hrs in the spring. Before the airlines I was a non-degreed mechanical engineer, including department management.

We hire plenty of guys without degrees. The only caveat is that if you get hired you can’t just be happy to be here and be willing to work for less because a legacy wouldn’t hire you.

3000 hr is the minimum before they look at you unless you personally know a chief pilot.

What do you mean, I can’t just be happy? Did you mean I have to be happy staying at Spirit for the rest of my career, because Legacies won’t hire me?

He means don’t just settle here for what we have simply because it’s better than your last regional. We want to be better than just a REALLY great regional contract... which that mentality can lead to.

I mean I fly with lots of guys without degrees and all them are great pilots. The trend is that many of them feel like they didn’t have options elsewhere because of lacking the degree and are just happy to be here and feel it’s ok to get compensated less than a legacy pilot. Thats flawed logic

Pretty sure they want people without degrees because that means it will be harder for you to leave (for a legacy).
