Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro If you are one who has routine appointments and prescriptions this is not the plane for you. However we are not so with the company contribution and my pre tax contribution it’s a no brainer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

what are you holding on to? Our insurance guys put out very comprehensive information every year making a case against it for “most” people without actually telling people what they should choose.

Just found out that LTD we can get from ALPA at my current company only pays out for 48 months.
Does the LTD at Spirit have a specific duration, good until 65, or something else? Edit: Is Spirit good about finding temporary jobs for their medically grounded pilots (instructing, etc)? |

Spirit the company couldn’t care less about finding a pilot a job when medically grounded. Any job income would be offset against your LTD payment, so nobody would want that job anyways. (QOTSA will be on in a minute to complain how we need non offsetting LTD with retirement contributions, and 4 and 5 Diamond hotel properties) |

Yes till 65 own occupation if you can't get your medical back you don't have to become a Walmart greeter. If you medical out at 64 and can't get your medical back it goes for another 2 years I believe. up too 5000 company payed a month before taxes you can buy up to 15000 the buy up 10000 is tax free since you already payed taxes on that. But you have to make around 300.000 on your last w2 to get the full 15K.
I believe this true someone else may know more. |
60% of your last year W2 300,000 x 60% = 180,000 divided by 12 = 15,000 of with 5,000 being taxed.

Also if you go out on STD and then LTD you lose pass benefits but most importantly you lose the company direct contributions.
Hopefully we can get this changed in the next contract since at most other airlines they don't lose these benefits, on STD and LTD. |
