There are pretty tried and tested methods to removing stuff from carpets as well as wiping down the flight deck. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out. And yes, I do them.

I’m just picturing the scenes from Gattaca of cleaning out the keyboard.

In Mexico, you can ask the person with backpack vacuum to give it a once over. Makes you realize how filthy it really is...

Ok, so to me it sounds like you’re in the .00001% of pilots that think a clean cockpit is what you’re describing. The rest of us just clean up our trash and leave the cockpit tidy for the next crew.
It takes very little effort to maintain some semblance of relative cleanliness in our workspace. People would look at you, rightfully so, as a psycho if you tolerated that kind of mess and any other part of your life. Give it a try. Actually wipe up that coffee you spilled on the pedestal or sidewalk. Maybe wipe down a panel. Get crazy and ask someone to clean the carpet or, perish the thought, do it yourself. A clean and professional work space goes a bit beyond “ we picked up our paperwork before we left”. If there are no means available then so be it. That’s rarely the case. |

Tidy meaning covered in dirt, grime and crumbs on the floor? It takes very little effort to maintain some semblance of relative cleanliness in our workspace. I get what you’re saying and that’s great and all, but seriously, how do you clean the carpet yourself? |

Sometimes there isn’t time. Sometimes there isn't equipment, or it’s defective or defunct. Sometimes the mess is beyond all reasonable means of cleaning. There are ways to have that remedied. Just do what you can which is almost always more than nothing. I know all of us would be ****ed and on the phone if we found our hotel rooms covered in grit and the floors awash in crumbs and trash. “But we picked up the dirty towels and made the beds...” wouldn’t be an acceptable response from the manager. A ride share would get a poor review as would most restaurants. Most of us wouldn’t dare show our vehicle or residence in such a condition on a date or even to family. I don’t know why it’s considered acceptable on a professional flight deck. So so I do what I can. I wish more would. |

You dont bust crumbs? Before your time but about 5 years ago someone decided to put a hand broom and dust pan in the cockpits and it was labeled "crumb buster" by the company. I always wondered who the heck would use the thing, I guess FNGFO does...Good on him...just not something im doing |

The crumb buster is...essentially useless. In another life I wrapped my hand in tape as a redneck Dustbuster.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I save that for the d*mn dirty apes who close all the vents and make me dig the rudder pedals off the forward stops because they don't realize that they don’t work as well on the more experienced birds. |

I am happy for our CEO calling for the end to the mandatory mask rule. I see another CEO speaking up and hopefully this will be optional soon. its good to see the “higher-up” people thinking this mask thing need to go as we head into the summer. |

on a recent trip...multiple cities...Nobody (pilots or non-pilots) wore them on the shuttle to and from the airport, in the hotel, and a lot of people even walking around the terminal. Lots of Ramp crews, cops and other airport employees don’t even wore them. Nobody, I say it again, nobody cared! then it hit me...I just realized the only people who did care are the Flight Attendants and Gate Agents, and again they are super strict. Is that mask is a millimeter below your nose??? Get your mask on now Sir!!! people are ready to move on... |

Out of uniform, I don’t wear it at all, fully vaxed and my giveadamn is broken....

Or is that group of employees simply that scared of this thing. Pilots almost to a one don’t give two ****s anymore, if they ever did. |

It’s time we get back to normalcy so unless there is a law asking for masks being worn (airport), I don’t. I’ve been vaccinated, so this is insane to keep wearing them in airports and the plane. |

I have my COVID shot...so it doesn’t bother me what other people do. |

I wear it at the airport. No more vans or hotels for me, as I have seen most have removed the mask signs. Like most of us, I toss it off once on the flight deck as I will be “actively drinking” my entire time up there. Comes a point when I get tired of making MCDU input errors because of a mask obstructing my view below.

I'm just doing it because the boss says I have to wear one. No more, no less. |
