Aircraft Cleaning/Disinfecting
I’m a commuter and have been on pretty much everyone except DL since all of the events du jour have been unfolding. I have to say, I’ve never seen interiors so clean. This is presumably from their organizational attempts to delay the human apocalypse in conjunction with lower loads (albeit most of my flights commuting, operating, and DH have been have been relatively full).
Just finished a pairing and have to say that our airplanes are (still) filthy. Even though the company said they’re stepping up cleaning, I don’t really recall any news about disinfecting, it seems like our cabins are just not clean, let alone disinfected, especially in recent comparison to OAL. Has anyone seen anything different or heard what the FAs think of this? Wonder if AFA is going to step in. |
Our cleaning has been extremely inadequate forever and as far as I know nothing has changed. I have always wiped down as many touch points as I can in the cockpit and when o DH.
We have a dirty plane email to send to about a plane that isn’t clean. Either people haven’t been using it or the recipient doesn’t care. honestly, it’s telling that we have to have it. It just means tell us when it gets so bad you have to say something bc we don’t have a normal procedure to ensure it’s done right |
I haven't noticed anything different than what was happening before
|
I saw a bunch of passengers wiping down their areas. So they are more clean than ever before.

Aircraft Sanitization / Cleaning NOT
No one wants to discuss it because it simply is not happening!
The talk and promises of Safety first is hogwash, boardroom talk to appear that all is well . Flight crews are at high risk as companies attempt to keep whatever sliver of business they can maintain , simply put , the actions speak louder than words. My company has not been sanitizing cockpits or the associated revenue / containers being loaded on the various aircraft and no one wants to comment on it for fear of retribution........... |

Yeah, we keep getting all these lying emails about enhanced cleaning of the aircraft and extra sanitizing equipment in the plane and gates... go ask a FA for a wipe they show you a meager bag with barely 10 of them. aircraft cleaning? Is the same 2 or 3 guys doing the same 4 minute paper pick up |
Most of our planes seem to fly for 3 days straight before getting to a point where there is an overnight down time for required maintenance, so I don’t see how we are getting extra cleaning done.
we don’t get to fly to the normal south of the border places, where the best cleaning get done by the Central American, South American cleaning crews. So I’d wager that the planes aren’t getting any cleaner. |
Three flights yesterday i didnt see a single tray table, seat, or armrest wiped down. Vaccumed and lav cleaned as usual

why. It’s true.
All we need is a bunch of journalists coming on here and claiming Spirit isn’t cleaning their planes because a bunch of bored anonymous pilots want something to complain about. I’ve noticed cleaners walking through the cabin with a spray bottle. Didn’t notice what they cleaned but it was more than the sweep and clean the lav of the past. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk https://www.emirates.com/media-centr...peace-of-mind/ Obviously we can't clean like this after every flight, but I'm sure the public would appreciate this type of thoroughness weekly. And it's a free press release for your APC "journalists". |

Welcome back to fox 4 news, we now go live Alex Boyer, Alex
Good-evening Clarice, I’ve been working from home however I’ve uncovered some disturbing news. BoeingBrat reports on a semi anonymous forum that Spirit Airlines is not cleaning their airplanes well! Aparently asking a ramper to off load the bags then vacuum a 321 with a half broken Dustbuster is newsworthy. Without my incredible journalism and the bored pilots from apc I would not have been able to uncover this. Fox4news |

Look at the bright side, when we go BK we can all apply as A/C cleaners for $7.00/hr and really show em how it’s done!

I have some of these suits with epaulettes and a spirit wings logos on if anyone wants one for their next 4 day trip. Just need someone to get to get this new uniform temporarily approved by the CP... |

Lately, I started to follow very many threads that are related to cleaning because I noticed that I can find many tips and tricks that I can use in real life and this is useful. In addition, not long ago I moved with my husband to a new house and we had to do complicated repairs and cleaning until we liked everything and were satisfied. We realized that we can't do everything on our own so we called this company niftytilecleaning.com.au and they saved us a lot, so our home was clean and beautiful.

Spirit isn't cleaning Jack. Hell, the floors can't even get vacuumed. Our airplanes with **** covered lav floors, finger juice covered windows, and human secretion discolored arm rests have got to be the dirtiest airplanes in the industry. Our 'extra cleaning' is a joke. TWICE I've had to inform Ops that the flight would be delayed if Purrel wipes weren't delivered. 'Magically' they appeared! Spirit is a $49 petri dish in the sky.

The forward lav is night and day difference on a mainline aircraft. I’m embarrassed to see urine caked toilettes...

I haven’t noticed much of a difference between our lavs and any other carrier. Sure there’s going to be pee sprinkles on the floor after a 4 hour transcon but that’s not unique to Spirit.
Last I checked the cleaners still run on between every flight and clean the lavs and the rest of the plane just like almost every other major airline. Next time you run into a JetBlue pilot ask him/her who cleans their planes between flights… |
FWIW, people will often use the sink and drip water off their hands all over the floor before making it to the paper towels, too.
at least that’s what I tell myself while I’m standing on it:D |
A restroom shared by half of 220 people will be dirty after a 4 hour flight. Shocker!
|
Not sure where you guys work? But I’ve honestly never seen a clean toilet at Spirit. Even ferried a brand new plane after delivery flight and the aft lav had skid marks...

Until you have flown 1200 miles in the back of a C-130 with a bunch of Troops redeploying from a year in the sandbox, you have no real concept of a dirty latrine. The fact that half of them went to a local goat grab their last night in theater didn’t help things a damn bit either. |
I can’t control the cleanliness of the forward lav other than the basic wiping of the bowl after I use it or the sink after I wash my hands.
My ability to keep the flight deck tidy is significantly greater, and I’ve yet to see much of anyone bother to keep it looking like something other than used horse stall. |

That’s a bit much. For the most part, I think our guys do a pretty decent job cleaning up after themselves.

A pretty good job? Maybe if you mean the flight decks looks as filthy as any other. Not remotely if you mean any sense of clean.

This one time, after leaving Cape Haitian.... YEAH! That happened....

There are pretty tried and tested methods to removing stuff from carpets as well as wiping down the flight deck. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out. And yes, I do them.
What are these methods of removing bits from the carpet? |
