Yeah I'll be there! I heard they slashed all classes in April to just 8 people instead of 16...

king10pin02 03-25-2020 05:34 AM

atleast they are still running classes

spirited 03-25-2020 05:51 AM

I'm meant to be in it. However, as of now, FL has a 14 day quarantine on people arriving from NYC area... I am near EWR... so I don't know how that will work

If you are in the class, PM me - I shall set up a WhatsApp group chat

I would reach out to the company, we just received a letter stating we were essential employees. They may be able to provide the same for you.

I'd want a letter stating that, and that I was an employee - I got nothing...
I am sure they will figure it out

Why do you need a letter? Are you normally like this or just due to the stress of everything right now?

I spent 5 minutes on google: Section 1A

https://www.flgov.com/wp-content/upl...0/EO_20-80.pdf

Welcome to Spirit and please don’t be like this when you get to the line by making your job harder than it needs to be.

We were emailed a letter stating that we’re employees yesterday. I bet you could get that letter from the training department too.

I have nothing saying I am an airline employee. I did email them asking for just that.

Drive to philly. Fly out of PHL. It’s not that hard.

hes technically not an airline employee until day one of class. Thus he would be a normal passenger when traveling.

Avro85 03-25-2020 08:40 AM

CDC recommendations do not apply to flight crews as they are immune to Covid19. Their families are too .

nope - not hard. I have asked some questions and will do the needful. May even drive to FLL
I guess if I drive in I can't carry the virus :p

It is the norm, but govt only put in restrictions that can be implemented easily. Never mind that the restrictions are not meaningful in the face of loopholes.

Come on guys, has common sense gone out the window?

He is not going to be imprisoned or fined on the way from the airport to training. And if he is, a letter stating that he will be an employee tomorrow doesn’t change the facts.

While a long drive, it’s really nice to have a car while in training.

You won’t regret having a vehicle in training!

We had guys in my class drive in from Vegas and Texas. The wheels come in very handy. Being subject to the hotel shuttle sucks.

I drove seventeen hours to class. Worth it, in my opinion.

Don't think it will be a good idea driving with NY plates, crossing into FL . .

there’s an auto wrecker just off 95 in East Brunswick NJ. Look for the place with the lowest ratings on Yelp. That’ll be it. Ask for Guido and tell him what state you want a set of license plates from, although anything west of the Mississippi gets sort of pricey...;)

Why? Broward county is basically turning into a bunch of angry white people from NY with vehicle plates to match 😂😂

CLE to IAH 03-25-2020 02:02 PM

So far still in the 4/27 class.

I also intend to drive. Having wheels pays huge dividends.

spirited 03-25-2020 02:04 PM

NJ plates - not NY - my bad
Then again - that may be worse

I think the WhatsApp group is set up when everyone is in class

Have you been flying recently ?
Are you essential?
There are many FL pilots who fly/ flew to NYC area.

If you got a class date you are all set unless you're feeling sick...

Xtreme87 03-25-2020 06:13 PM

Wow never thought I’d see the day Americans scared to move about their lives because the government told them not to. Insane. Do your thing, tell the popo’s to lick a big one.

It's on!
Spirit, like every other airline, does NOT need more pilots right now, but....
Spirit, Unlike every other airline is fulfilling its promise to every new hire that had a class date and taking them on.
Heard noises in the wild that not all pilot from cancelled classes were able to return to their previous position....

In a few years, when airlines are commodities, pay is similar, and pilots are the hot ticket - who you gonna call?
I am glad I made the cut at NK

disclaimer: I am a new hire not on property yet - so haven't seen the seamy side - but not a management plant either

welcome, hopefully sooner rather than later our biggest problem will once again be “Why don’t people plug in the headsets”......

The correct wording it’s “Spirit is TRYING to fulfill its promise”. Don’t mean to bring you down, but what’s being said today, means nothing tomorrow. Good luck to everybody. Like someone said in here, let’s hope our first world problems and complains come back soon enough.

Show me where I said everything will be ok. You said “Not to rain on your parade” follow by “There’s going to be furlough” That’s the point of my reply.
