I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to reach get some advice from you guys—I recently received a CJO from United. While this is an incredible opportunity, I'm feeling quite conflicted about whether or not to take the plunge.

Here's a bit about my situation: I'm in my late twenties and have been with Spirit for the past 15 months. I currently live in South Florida, and if I were to accept the United offer, I'd need to commute to a United base, which would be a change.

I've had a great experience at Spirit so far, and I've grown both personally and professionally during my time here.

On the flip side, United has opportunities for career advancement and the broader route network is enticing, but the uncertainty and potential disruptions associated with commuting are daunting.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from those who've been in a similar situation or anyone with knowledge about the pros and cons of switching airlines. How did you make your decision? Are there factors I should consider that I might not be thinking of right now?

Late 20's..... Take the UAL job, move to/very near a UAL hub that has ample International and enjoy the ride from NB B, WB B, NB A, WB A......

UAL isn't going anywhere, there will be a few periods of trials and tribulations, but I don't see their hubs in SFO/ORD/DEN/EWR/IAH going anywhere. Pick one and move while you can!

Take the United job then go to AA if you’re not going to move from South Florida.

In my personal opinion, I could see the new Spirit/Jetblue being a huge airline, and by the end of your career who knows, maybe just as big as AA. Anything can happen. But everyone will tell you to leave... Just my thought

I left NK for UAL. I can share my experiences and decision making process if you'd like to PM.

If you want to stay in South FL and move on to a legacy go to AA. Plus in your late 20’s? No brainer. You would retire in the double digits.

I hope if worked out for you. I've counseled many FO's and the majority of the time their best option is to leave. Some exceptions obviously, but not many.

I mean in in my mid 40s in the Midwest base but not feeling confident about NJ keeping a base there and not looking to move. With that being said united looks miserable in comparison to Nk

United is a “don’t be junior, show up and fly your trip” airline. Pilots mostly just care about flying a line, and keeping their overnights the same on their trips. As long as you accept that, you’ll be fine.
